Hello, I am about to buy the first MMM for my kubota B2 series. I have allready a mower to use in the back, but with the MMM I would be able to give the tractor also to my son so he can use the machine. I think the mmm will be much more safer for him to operate (no pto, no big dimensions in the back - just like small lawnmower but bigger). We are also doing a lot of garden work together with my wife, I am sure she will be able to use the tractor too with this implement, when she will want to.

I was going to pull the trigger on it today but I see that there are two types (both Ok to mount on my tractor) - RC60R-25B-EU which has rear discharge and the other one with SIDE discharge (RCK)

Does anybody knows, is there any difference worth any attention between these two types (side vs rear discharge) ?

Regarding the mmm , I checked allready on the forum, that the 60 is better than 54, so I will go for 60.

best regards - Maciej

Rear discharge with mulch blades would be my choice.

So you plan on doing garden work with a middle mount mower tractor eh?

I have done that years ago and gave up on that idea since the deck was always creating problems with ground clearance, deck sides sticking out etc. etc.
No more gardening with middle mount deck mower tractor for me - never again.

I have heard from my neighbor how the deck in his new John Deere 2038 R is easy to remove and so-called drive over model, but I have not seen him do it yet, he only talks about it...
And to me it looks like a cumbersome mower when he is mowing his yard with it - sorry, just my opinion.

My own solution over the years has been: 4 x 4 front loader tractor with PTO tiller & other attachments for gardening, wood chipping etc. & front deck (RD) mower for lawn mowing.

I still keep an old heavy duty John Deere 300 middle mount mower for fence line mowing, some of the forest area & some weed mowing and hauling a small HD trailer for firewood etc.

But hey, sounds like your mind is made up on buying B2 series middle mount mower tractor so what the heck, you know your own situation best.

Good luck!

Hi, thanks for the reply, it was interesting for me to read Your post.

From my personal experience, for mowing the garden there is only one solution - a robot. Yes, You have to buy a big one and they are expensive, but the effect is fantastic. Zero work, and very, very good qulity of mowing. Because robot is small it has no problem to trim everything correctly regardless if the terrain is flat or not. After 1 full year with the robot, I can say for sure that I was never able to obtain such a good effect before.

The problem is, that the land is too big to be maintaned for the robots - so I have divided property into "garden zone" where the robot is operating. Then I have a lot of area which I call "jungle". The jungle , I am transforming with my kubota into perfectly clean ground and then the grass is coming (this is mainly why I bought the tractor for, besides the obvious mid-life crisis :) ). And this is where I need the middle deck mower, once the process is completed. Because it's a big area, flat, without any trees or bushes. So I though MMM will be perfect for that - just to do it once a week without collecting cutted grass. Another thing, is that my wife has no experience, son is still very young so this could be also a good implement for them (nothing in the back, easy operation).

Could be that You solution is even better with the front mower, but it will be hard for me because I allready bought different front-mount for snow and also a hydraulic brush.
I would need to disassemble those two implements and sell everything, purchase the new front mount with the power-supply and also new implements, so I think makes no sense to do it now.
But I can imagine that You must have very good control when You have the deck in front of You.

best regards
Maciej

Don't fear the mid mount mower for the B20 or B01 series if that's what you have. They are drive over decks and very easy to take on and off. A single handle on the front of the tractor and a spring pin on each side on the lift arms. Hardest part is reaching under to lock the PTO shaft on.

I have seen rear discharge on the rear 3 point mowers but didn't know they had a rear discharge option for the mid mount. Only benefit to a rear discharge is if you are mowing very long or thick grass, as it distributes the clippings more evenly. But if you mow regularly before it gets out of hand a side discharge is fine.

I have the 60 inch side discharge. And my yard is not level, yet I don't find it scalps at all.

I’m not sure a rear discharge is available in the US as a MMM. I have a new brochure, and it lists all mowers as side discharge. Everything I find with rear discharge for a MMM is overseas. Currently, only a 72” side discharge is available for the B2650 or B3350. The B01 Series offers 54” and 60” side discharge only. This is interesting.

I've been a rear discharge advocate for many years and if the side discharge with mulching kit were not available I'd still be a rear discharge only person. I hate the regular side discharge mower for many reasons. I like he rear discharge mower but the side discharge with mulching kit solves the bad issues with the side discharge. So, rear discharge or side discharge with mulching kit is the answer.:2cents:

The side discharge MMM would support vacuum and grass pickup. I used Kubota rear pto vacuum system for years on B3350 and now BX2680. Makes a great mulch pile, but yes it is extra work to empty catcher. Great for leaf pickup too.

There is a 60 inch for them also.

Peruzzo Collection Flail Mower: 45" Cut, 2-45HP Tractors

I am using above implement for leaves and grass pickup. It has two types of blades (light and heavy) and it works great. I use it when I start to transform the land into grass-area, as a first implement and for leaves pickup.
The thing is, that for big areaa , where I will just have plain field, I am not sure if I need to collect the grass. And it's also not so small implement - I think its not easy to operate for "non-regular-tractor-user". This is why I want to buy the MMM.

Weird. My brochures and Kubota build and price show only a 54”’and 60” for the B2301 and B2601. The B2650 and B3350 only 72”. All side discharge. Where are you finding rear discharge 72” decks for the B2650? My dad was looking, specifically for the cab, and has been looking to get a new Land Pride rear mower because he wants a rear discharge. Dealer said no, so he passed. Maybe there is hope. Fingers crossed.
