Kubota M6800 Starter Sparking

Have 2002 kubota M6800. Bought 3 yrs ago. Started a few days ago with no problem. Drove to a neighbor and stopped it. Tried to start again and only have a click in the starter solonoid. Put charger on battery and it showed 50% charge and the battery is the same one that came with the tractor to me. When the battery was charged same click the first try then the second try some sparks flew off the starter and then it started. The wires all appear to be tight. Brought it home and same thing. Starter will turn when solonoid manually engaged but the tractor will not start.

Any suggestions? Bad starter, voltage (battery) issue?\

Any help would be appreciated.

I've melted the ground cable between a starter and frame before so I suggest checking that. Disconnect the cable from the frame, check cable for cracks or damage, clean both the cable and frame ends, replace the serrated washers, reconnect the ground cable and see if that makes any difference.

Disconnect the battery from the cables and use a battery tester to check the battery, or take it to one of the auto shops that sells batteries to test it. It sound like your battery may take a charge, but not a complete one. It may have (a) bad cell(s). If the battery is OK it most likely is the starter. I am not familiar with the starter on your tractor, but if it has a solenoid, it may be failing as well.
