Kubota L4600DT-0\
We have a Kubota L4600DT 4WD we bought new, and we've always had trouble getting it to come out of 4WD. We would have to use the bucket to lift the front tires off the ground in order to take it out of 4WD. The dealer we bought it from kept telling us that was normal and wouldn't do anything about it. So anyways, the other day my husband was driving it home in 3rd gear high when it somehow jumped into 4WD and locked up the front end. Now when he puts it into 4WD the front end locks up, it still works fine in 2WD. Any suggestions would be appreciated, but please don't tell me to take it to the dealer for repair, I don't trust them as far as I could throw them.

yup, don't take it to dealer at this point, should have been addressed during the warranty. Please do the following and see what happens.
  1. start, clutch, gear shift to speed 2 with the range on turtle and move 10 feet forward.
  2. do #1 step , only shuttle shift to reverse.
  3. do # 1 with only difference of rabbit vs, turtle.
  4. do # 2 with only difference of Rabbit vs, turtle.
  5. with the tractor on, and shuttle in neutral, clutch al the way as far as you can and try to change from 2 WD to 4WD and move forward. What happens when you do?
  6. do #5 but going in reverse. what happens then.
Occasionally I have just a bit of issue with my 2wd/4wd but pretty much , when get in to hurry and would not allow the tractor to come to perfect stop or I would not press clutch fully like i should. Moving forward and backward appears to help. Also go under the tractor and verify front axle shaft is in pace without damage. The actual input shaft is actually protected In a pipe sleeve like you see. The outer shaft does not rotate but the hidden inner input shaft does.
