I purchased a Kubota replacement seat from Amazon $99....looks great...said to fit L tractors.

My issue is that after removal of the old seat frame /foam....there is a complicated seat mechanism to make the seat adjustable.

There is moderate rust and the mechanism is frozen making it difficult to determine what should be/should not be movable with WD40 and coaxing.

Should the mechanism provide front to back adjust? Height adjust? Firmness adjust? That knowledge would give me a head start in determining how to mobilize the parts.

A diagram would be great if available.

Many thanks Max

Here is what I have learned. You must be able to bolt up into the new seat, and the problem we are actually discussing is how to get to it.

Best approach is to remove the entire seat support system with four easy bolts...two in back 14mm easy to get to once seat is off...two towards front easy to get to.

Now seat support assembly lifts out and you can see how the seat works.

The frozen part for me is the slide (front to back) which is latched with a comb like structure (this lefts up with lever which disengages it from the bottom half of the adjustable rail.)

I have used liquid wrench and banged it a little....no movement. I will let it sit for a while and try again.

AS regards the seat...there are multiple connection options on the bottom of the seat. I do not believe it will be too difficult to make it work....maybe easy with luck.

Suggestions on how to unstick the rail assembly? max

Got any photos of it? I would think you have a better seat than the Economy L's... ours cheap seats are adjustable but many found them to be frozen in place. Standing on them and jumping up and down (after lots of PB Blaster spray) and people got them moving freely again. I personally had to use a crowbar to pop it up after I compressed it. Took a while to free mine...

OK, here is the scoop (learned by error)

To remove my replacement seat, look for the rod on which the seat tilts. Pull this rod (held with cotter key) and the seat comes into your hands. The old seat held this pin with a flat bottom "U"shaped bracket (bolted to seat) ....replace new seat with old (almost perfect fit).

Why did I have so much trouble? Poor light / inexperience rust everywhere.

I removed the entire seat support / adjust assembly (the adjusts were rust frozen and need work anyhow).....but not necessary if only seat replacement is the goal.

Hope this helps....I learned a lot and enjoyed the project. Max
