My Dad and I took a look at a Kubota L3400 Hydro with a LA463 loader today.

Dealer gave me a quick price of right at $18K with industrial tires.

He priced a backhoe attachement at around $ 7K.

Does this sound pretty close to average ?

We are also looking at some John Deere tractors of similar size ( 3000 series ) and should have some pricing this evening.

So far I like the looks and features of the Kubota better but I have not gotten the pricing in the Deere yet to compare.

I have never used a hydro tractor before.

Any problems or cautions on putting loads on a hydro ?

Any features or plusses the Kubota has over Deeres ?

No flaming please, just the facts.

Thanks !!

I own a 2009 L3400 HST with 45 hours on it bought brand new. Came with LA 463 Q/A Loader with Q/A 66" bucket, Folding Rops, R4 Tires with rear filled, Grill Guard, and used 60" BB $18,400.00
It has done everthing I have asked of it and am very happy. Good Luck with your decision. Hope this helps.

I have the next size up in the LXX00 the L4400 and it is a great tractor. I have run a few L3400 and they have great power to weight and you are right to choose n HST at least in my opinion. If you want to know the best price you can get on that machine go to Barlow Tractors "Package Builders Site" and go through the process and name your price. I did and ended up buying my tractor from them. Here is the link to their site.

I recently bought exactly the same setup that you are looking at, and at the same price. My after-purchase advice though, is to add all of the attachments and mods now that you think you might ever want. Price on those will be substantially less, and almost free labor to install or prep.

Veresjwv,
I just noticed you are in the Piedmont,NC area.

I am in the southern end.

Where did you buy your Kubota ?

Southern end? Me too! :) I bought mine from Carver Equipment in Dunn (about 2 hours from me) Unfortunatley Carver is no longer in business. I live pretty close to Sinks on Rt. 64. They were almost 2K more then Carver but I bet they would be willing to deal right about now. They also are pretty good when it comes to service. Good to know we are almost nieghbors - best of luck.

Priced mine at Callicutt in Franklinville.

I have been by Sink but have not stopped in yet.

I was really amazed at how much higher John Deere was for similar machines.

Thanks again to all who have replied.

At the end of last year, I went into a Kubota dealer about 40 minutes away from me. I expected to pay around 17500 for an L3400 gear. He laughed and walked away from me and said when I was ready to give him 19300, we'd talk. I asked him if there was a front guard available for those tie rods so precariously placed in front, he then stated that when I bought the tractor, he'd answer my question. Did he ever really think I would buy anything from him with this attitude? By the way, does anyone know if there are guards for the tierods?
