Kubota L285 with low oil pressure

I have a kubota L285 with low oil pressure , removed sender, installed gauge have 7 PSI cold at 1000 rpm, 15 PSI cold at full speed. So far I have gone to a thicker grade oil 15/40, slight increase in pressure, removed pan checked sump screen, plastigaged the con rod bearings they are within tolerence, .003 clearance. My next step is to check oil pump clearances, got to get more tools first. I also heard that the cam shaft plug falls out of these things. any other ideas?

One or both of the cam plugs fell out it sounds like (I would bet money on it!). You're going to have to remove the timing cover and remove the cam to replace them. Fix it asap before you hurt the cam bore which doesn't use bearings and would ruin the block. I would weld the replacements in place.

If the cam plugs are still in place, go back to the oil pump and be sure that the relief valve has not gotten stuck in the open position.

Thanks for your replies, it turned out to be the front plug in the cam shaft after all. But after the dust has settled I now know the condition of my engine. With every thing back together the oil pressure is now 80 PSI with 10w30 oil in it.
