Kubota L2800 question

I have decided that I am going to get either a Kubota L2800 or Massey 1531. Both with hydrostats. I am going to be doing some brush cutting and loader work on some pretty hilly ground. I have a bad left knee and looking at replacement in a year or so. I figure the hydro would be easier to operate going foward and reverse a lot. If anyone has a better suggestion on which transmission may work better, I will listen.

Will the L2800 handle a 5 foot heavier brush cutter, 5-6 ft disk and box blade? I am familiar with Kubota and its resale value. How does the Massey stack up? Also the price is $18,900 with a loader. Kubota would be $16,000. Should I step up to the 3400?

I've read on these forums that people have problems with the L3400's 3 point hitch being "jerky" I'm guessing the L2800 might have the same problem too. Others will chime in on this I'm sure.

yes-- there is a problem with SOME L2800/L3400 3 PT hitch being jerky..
but not all..
If your concerned at all just have the dealer mount a heavy Boxblade on it and see how it works..

I have an L3400-- and have read nearly all the threads about the jerky hitch..
In the end, it will depend on what you use the tractor for.

For the money and the use- the HST is the proper pairing with the loader..

L3400/2800-- there was a difference at one point regarding the PTO-- not sure if it is still there or not..
someone else can chime in on that..

I have been very happy with my 3400..

As for HST-- there is a cruise control lever for the long haul also..

I purchase L2800HST w/fel and 6' scraper blade couple months ago.
No jerky motion 3pt hitch,but rises quicker than I am use to.
FEL mostly bucket quick responds.
HST in low range w/4wd outstanding...yet to use high range.

Loader makes snapping almost cracking sound on left side empty or full...dealer will look at the problem.
If I could change one thing it would be diesel tank,trying to hold 5 gallons at such angle pain at first.

I to have bad ankle,the pedal fits my needs.

Most of all,the Mrs. enjoys useing the L2800HST.

I have a 2005 L2800 model and I'll lose traction before power and it doesn't use much gas. The hitch problem is only seen when raising the 3ph slowly and in tiny adjustments... using a boom pole to lift heavy objects or trying to set the final grade with the box blade WERE the problems for me. (I got my valve replaced.) I have a 6' BB heavy and have moved a lot of dirt... it does fine. I have a 5' shreader and it works great... *might* be able to handle a light duty 6' if you are just cutting grass. You can always take a smaller "bite" with a 6 footer - but it's only a guess. I don't know about the disks...

That seems like a good price for the kubota.

My L-2800DT is a 2005 and It has the jerky 3 PT and when I contacted Kubota they told me that I had the new control valve on the 3 Point lift. There is an adjustment valve under the seat and they recommended that I adjust the pressure down and it seemed to work better but still is a pain to get a fine adjustment. These Kubota's are work horses and well built.

I bought a an RTV-900 in 2007 and love this machine for working around my summer home in Montana. In Montana you can license it and use it on the road just like a car. The store / post office is six miles away and once in awhile I run it down to the store.

I have a 2007 L2800 with hydrostatic transmission, FEL and heavy duty bush hog and love it... due to a bout with polio as a child, my left left is useless and the few extra bucks spent for hydro was money well spent... The L2800 is a work horse.
