I was looking at a Kubota L2501 this week and have been trying to look up engine performance charts on this engine with no luck. Does anyone know where I can find this info on Kubota D-1703-M-E4B direct injection engine? I am curious what was changed from the E3B interim tier 4 engine that was rated at 2800 RPM.

OC3: I have attached a picture of the owner's manual for the L2501 engine. Click on it to expand it. One thing that stands out is that it has a lot of torque (70.2) compared to most other 25 horse engines. I have a L2501HST and find it has plenty of power for a 5 foot brush hog.

Thank you for your response Foxtail. I did purchase a L2501dt in June and you are right it has plenty of torque. I am very happy with it so far and I can't really see much difference power wise between it and my previous L3710 HST when doing the exact same work. It is quieter than the old tractor and uses much less fuel also.

OC3 I am looking at a l2501 DT I previously owned a l3800 that was a great tractor but my one dislike was that when shifting from forward to reverse it would always grind the gears. Does your l2501 do this?

Personally I find it difficult to believe a 10 cu in larger engine has less power than the one in the L 3200. The peak power rating is at 2200 rpm but the "540 rpm" speed is still nearly 2,800 rpms. The other tractor ratings are at 2600 to 2900.

This seems a pure emissions dodge.

The rated 540pto speed for the L2501 is 2105rpm for the hst and 1910rpm for the gear.

Think of it like the OTR trucks, big engine, lower rpm/hp=better longevity and lots of tq at a low engine speed.

I was looking at a ford 1920 the other day, 32hp with a 2.0L. It's nothing new.

I have a L2501DT. It has plenty of power. I lose traction with my ag tires well before I run out of power. I need to add ballast to my tires to see if I can try and utilize the power I have. I like the low end power. It seems like I am right there where I need to be at a low rpm and the engine hardly working.

Goreef I have no issues shifting from forward to reverse on L2501dt as long as tractor is stopped there should be no grinding. When shifting into any gear from neutral give the gears about 4 seconds to stop spinning or you will get grinding

I have the L2501HST and also like how quiet the engine and torquey the engine feels at the PTO speed (about 2100 engine RPM).

That sounds like a winning combination to me.
