The
L1500 is a grey market tractor. They are very similar to the
L185 ,sharing similar engines etc. The
L185 manual should be enough for any mechanic to repair the unit. This manual should still be available at your local dealer.
Not sure about the problem you describe. If the fan and fan belt turn it indicates it is cranking OK. A major cause of hard starting,or not starting, are burnt out glow plugs .
However as you state the tractor stopped in the middle of a job, it could be fuel starvation, blockage in the tank etc. We have seen some of these with so much dirt or water in the fuel tank, the tanks had to be removed and properly cleaned.
If the tractor was hot when it stopped suddenly, there is the chance it overheated and siezed, causing it to stop.If this happened the pistons are probably scored and it becomes a repair job for the experts. The radiator must be kept clean especially when bush hogging as a lot of the small grass bits end up in the front of the radiator and it will overheat easily.
Also if it overheats they are a bit prone to cracking the cylinder head, allowing water to enter the cylinder. That would prevent the engine from cranking over, but it would crank some of the way, without turning a full revolution on the engine.
Its probably time to get a mechanic to diagnose it properly for you, but if you provide more information we'll try to help you.
I think the
L1500 was current in the late 70's and early 80's so its at least 20 years old. That in itself is no problem as many of these are still doing good work for their owners.
Hope this helps.
