Talked to Norfolk power today. According to the shop foreman, female quick connect on "up" side of loader was jamming closed. I swear I switched that fitting with one from tilt/ curl side to check that very thing, but..... He says all lines checked out at male side with pressure gauge, but that one was dead on other side of female fitting... So they replaced it, tried it out in a snowpile, and it's working totally normally.... Smfh.... Lol. I guess $250 in diagnosing and a (guessing) $20 part beats a loader valve. Thanks for all the good advice, and the hydraulic lessons... I definitely have a better understanding of some of it now...

Honestly, if a person never takes the loader off, like many of the operators, it would cut down on potential leaks and hassles if we did away with the QC's and just connected directly. But, for marketing purposes alone, we must have a quick attach loader. And there are people that regularly remove the loader. Not many, but some folks like the entire loader off when mowing or tilling, or whatever.

I know I always take my loader off for mowing or whatever.
My loader is like any other attachment.
I put it on when I need it and take it off when I don't.

You are in the minority. I much prefer to mow with out a loader as well. I have lots of trees, and it just seems easier. I keep an old 2wd tractor without a loader hooked up to the flail. Even if I only have a half hour, I can hop on it and mow an acre.

I agree. I will remove/install my FEL a minimum of 6 times a year. Probably closer to 10.

I have never removed my FEL. Back hoe yes, FEL no.

I leave mine on when mowing.. The bucket catches all the grass seed instead of my radiator catching the seed ,causing my engine run hot

I drop the bucket regularly but the FEL always stays on. In fact, I replaced the 2 pins with bolts to get rid of the rattling. If didn't have the loader frame on, I'd be wanting to add suitcase weights so what's the point of taking it off?

Getting rid of those QDs, while they never give me a problem is an idea though. If I can, for a reasonable price replace them with a union, it could be an easy source of 4 more pair of QDs for other purposes

What a day......

Got the tractor home at 10, started doing a little work on the driveway. Looks like an Air Force bombing range. Played for 2 hrs, and guess what? Loader starts doing same thing. Will go up only if I hit the float function with bucket a foot or more off the ground previous to going up. Finally stops going up altogether. Disconnect quicks, the white one (which takes fluid back when cylinder is "closing" is holding pressure. Like I cant push the pin in to relieve it. Now I'm REALLY confused. So.. I know that the loader won't go up because fluid can't flow through that line. That is also the female that they replaced... Talk to my buddy, he suggests maybe it's the male that's screwed up. So, I take male off, switch with "roll back" male. Li and behold..... Loader goes up and down no prob, won't roll back. I wanted to use it for the rest of the day, and I haven't taken the loader off in 4.5 years, so... Cleaned everything up, found a piece of threaded coupling the right size, disconnected white line @ Union with steel line, and put it all together... Worked flawlessly do 2 hours, and I'm confident that it's fixed. Looking at the bad male, the button is off center, so I guess that was letting the pressure build in that side of the cylinder....
It was a really good day.
Thanks again to all who threw in their .02.

Good to hear your back in action again. All that hassle for a bad q/c coupler.:banghead:

My FEL stays on all the time, with only bucket / rake changeouts. Backhoe is off regularly for rear implement use.

Ironic, isn't it.....all those visits to the shop, all that money spent and in the end,
YOU turn around and fix the problem yourself, good for you:thumbsup: bring back that fitting to the shop and rub it in their nose's...lol

Bing187, good for you for getting yourself running again. You are gaining a good understanding of your hydraulic system. I'm sure you would rather it never caused you grief, but it least you will come through this with more knowledge and skill.

Good for you Bing187 nothing like having your tractor working well to make you feel good!!
