Kubota guys - D1105 large engine oil leak

Sorry posted in wrong forum first time!

Have a 2002 Allmand backhoe with the 25hp Kubota D1105-E3b engine with 1115 hrs, yesterday while operating at about 1/2 throttle i moved the machine and noticed engine oil on the grass and shutdown immediately, appears that the large round housing under the injector pump (governor housing?) has a large plug in the back of it that had become cockeyed in its bore and allowed a large amount of oil to leak out.

Questions are - is there oil pressure at this plug or is this just a reservoir for the lower workings of the injector pump and can i just replace the plug / seal and change the oil ? FWIW the engine was running fine. Pics below if they upload ok.

Without looking, I'd guess it's where a hydraulic pump bolts up or similar. No pressure should be there, make sure your engine breather is clear.

That is the plug for where a hydrulic pump would mount, no pressure but lots of oil gets splashed in that area.

Thanks guys , you're right that is the spot for an optional pump , given your description I was able to find a breakdown drawing online that called the plug we see there "cover, hydraulic pump".

I'm still a little puzzled why something simple that could cause a catastrophic loss of engine oil isn't better secured ? There are some blind holes on the back of that housing , I believe I may try to install a piece of safety wire diagonally across that cap.
