Tractor
Kubota M7040, F3680, Mule Pro Fxt
Of the tractors Kubota has in this series, in the 35hp to 45hp .... or so ..... range. Does anyone tractor stand out as been superior? Or are they about the same except for the horsepower?

The 3940 is the smallest one you can get with a 4 cylinder and the largest you can get with a MMM.

The L4240 is the smallest on you can get with the LA854 loader which is used up to the 5740.

They all stand out....hard to go wrong with any one of them. Just measure by how much PTO hp you need and how much you can afford....(they usually don't quite match!)

Always lots of things to consider and each situation may well dictate a different tractor. My wife and I initially loved the L32/3540, but decided for our needs a minimum would be the L4240 due to the stronger loader, bigger frame etc. One is not better than the other just different as you actually can go too big.

Ain't that the truth! I'd suggest determining the PTO HP you need and then going at least one size bigger. When I bought my first tractor I spent so much time trying to figure out the minimum I could get by with that I failed to factor in "future needs". As such, I now own TWO tractors! It's all good though - they both do certain things the other cannot.

I just hate when that happens.:licking:

I was afraid these comments would be posted. As a former M7040 owner I can relate....wish I could have kept that tractor.

I can be in the "bigger is better" camp on many issues but not necessarily tractors and implements.

I work mostly in the woods, so maneuverability is high in my priorities.

As you go up in tractor and loader size the places you can "get to" are reduced by about the square of tractor size.

A heavier frame tractor is great but a dimensionally larger tractor can be a hindrance.

How much area are you working? Will you be driving over turf? What implements will you use most?
