Kubota GR2110 ??

1*The concept that you have for the second mower is good.
2* the only thing about the BX vs the G/GR is the BX has a lot wider turn radius and the ROPS can get in the way of the fruit trees.
3*Fuel consumption is better with the G2160 also as it is alot lighter and has less drivetrain to move.

1*Sure it's good .
2*These 2 points have never been an issue with either of my BX1500s.
3*No gas powered engine could ever be as easy on fuel as A BX.

Well the John Deere dealership did not have an X728 ro 729 to try out so I drove an X700. It's a nice tractor but I really wanted to drive one with the 4 wheel steer. He gave me a price of $10,619 on the X728 and $11,349 on the X729 which has 4WD/4WS.

We then went to the Kubota dealership, which is only about 500 yards down the road, to talk to the dealer about the GR2110 and all the bad reviews I had been reading on here. He admitted they did have problems with them but took care of all those issues and have not had any problems over the last couple of years.

I told him that I had crossed the GR off my list and that I wanted a price on a BX1860 with a 54" deck. His price - $10,500.
1*I am strongly considering the BX because I already know what this tractor can do.
2* This would free up my BX24!!
1*The BX1860 beats all the others discussed .
I would jump on it.
2*Problem solved.

 My Kubota BX23 and the 2 Kubota BX1500 tractors.

The tech left a few hours ago. They blew out the transmission screen strainer and all the tubes. Changed filter and tranny fluid. Found the screw that holds the linkage from the speed control pedal to the input on the transmission was loose again. This is the second time in 42 hours of use. Even with loctite it comes loose. It is hard to get to without removing the tire and then is still very restrictive access.
He said that most that come in for service have this set screw loose but most people don't even realize it because they don't have a lot of hills. Now I think I'm going to see what kind of deal I can get on a BX. I just don't know that I trust it anymore.

Coot, can you snap a pic of that set screw you're talking about.Don't think I've had a problem with that, but would like to know where it's at so I can check it out.

I'll try but it is very hard to get to. But I can show you where it is located. I'll try to get a picture tomorrow.

It is between the frame and transmission on the left side. Where the linkage attaches to the shaft going into the tranny. You can't see it, it is an allen head set screw and is down inside the linkage and the hole faces the front of the tractor. If it were on the bottom it would be easy to get to. He had to use a allen head socket adapter and an box end wrench to tighten it. If you weren't a service person you'd have no way of knowing it is there.

Never did see the set screw with my eye. But was able to get the camera in and take this picture. The set screw is towards the front. Had to take the shroud and left rear tire off to get this picture. Hope it helps. It must be to big to load on this page so click on link.

Well not everyone has your requirements, my neighbor just removed the ROPS from his brand new BX2360 to fit under his orchard trees, so it is a concern around here in the real Northwest.

The G2160 IS NOT GAS and has a D783 diesel and shares the same deck as my BX2230 and will beat the BX everytime in fuel consumption and mowing time.

If your looking for just a mower, how bout a Kubota zero turn? I have a ZD21 with over 1300 hrs on it and I love it. The newer ones are even better.

High Compression, I have some steep inclines around my pond that are just too steep for a zero turn. If this wasn't the case I would definitely consider one.
