Does anyone buy engine oil for their Kubota online and has it delivered? If so, who do you use? TractorSmart does not.

Merry Christmas and a safe Kubota New Year

I looked all over for online source and gave up. Tractorsmart DOES sell SUDT, but not engine oil.

I'm using Bota oil until warranty expires, then going to Rotella.

Kubota doesn't spec oil like they do hydraulic fluid. They don't say who has to make it. So you can use any manufacturer's oil that meets their guidelines. The manual should spell that out. No need to wait to change IMO as warranty isn't an issue so long as you follow thier guideline.

Oh yeah. Actually, the only diesel-rated 10W/30 I could find (which the manual calls for).

And they are very proud of it. $3/qt.

I used Mobile 1 10w30 at my 50 hour oil change I use this oil in all my vehicles, mowers etc. I have a 1990 Ranch King lawn tractor with a twin cylinder 18 hp engine that still runs like new today with Mobil 1. My dealer also recommended a synthetic oil for the B7800. Start ups in the winter are quick and easy with synthetic in the crankcase. At 50 hrs I put new Super UDT in the hydraulic resivoir. The snow plow & FEL respond great at warmup. Love this tractor.

I know where your coming from..and I agree ...its a RIP! Its rated "CD;CE and CF"...and 2 of those specs are almost pre-historic. Shell Rotella 10w-30 is rated all of those and MORE..all the way up to "CI"...and I can get it for $7 and change A GALLON at Wally World...geezeeee!!

Here's a link -----> Click Here for the API Oil Categories and what they mean. It pays to read them.

In summary, ratings CG-4 and above are for engines using diesel fuel with 0.5% or less sulphur, EGR, defined as 'high speed' with a need to meet certain emission standards. Any category lower than CF is obsolete. CD was introduced in 1955, CE in 1985, CF in 1994, CG in 1995, CH in 1998, CI in 2002.

Mike: I wonder why Kubota even bothered to list it in their specs?? ( The CD, CE rating??) Since..if I read the printed out chart correctly...CF has all the properties ( and more of course) as the two lesser.??

Rotella makes a 10W/30 for diesels? All the Rotella I've seen here is 15W/40...

Show DO! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Do a search on Rotella and look at the specs. Its doesnt cover ALL the specs that the 15W-40 does...but it IS rated for diesels and IS a 10W-30 oil..

It could be that whomever makes their oil either didn't want to go to the expense of certifying it or didn't think they needed to since the classification didn't apply to the equipment they sell. It costs quite a bit (or so I've read) to certify an oil.

Hmmmmm.

Seems to be turning into an oil thread.

Personally, I use Mystic JT8 15-40 in the Kubby, the Massey, the Lincoln gas welder, the 350 Ford Powersmoke, the MTD lawn tractor and my portable generator.

My Tracker and my wife's Ranger get Motorcraft 5-30 Synthetic Blend.

I use Amsoil 20-50 in my Triumph, 5-30 in my standby genset.
I use Mobil Rarus VG100 compressor oil in my recropricating compressors, Shell Spirax 85-140 in my diff's and gear boxes and Shell Donax spindle oil in my lathes and milling machines, Harig high film strength way oil on my slideways, Valenite VNT700 full synthetic in my flood coolant units and Mobil full synthetic high temperature grease in my bulk greaser.

I think that covers it all with the exception of the Marvel Mystery Oil that I squirt in my air tools on ocassion and wipe my machines down too. I forgot, a couple of cans of PB Blaster for the stubborn nut. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
