Kubota drive over mower deck.

/ Kubota drive over mower deck. #21
I just got my B3030 with the 72" deck, but was told by the dealer is was not a drive over deck. The kubota web site says the 72 is a drive over. My manual has not arrived. I'm confused. Your help will be appreciated. I'm also a little confused on the suspended deck issue: on mine the lift arms control the height of the mower, however there is no stop like there is on the BX series, but the result seems the same as i use the indicator on the lift arm lever to control height. Am i missing something?

The 72" is a drive over deck. The BX series have a suspended deck (it doesn't touch the ground). The B series MMM are lowered directly on the ground and they roll on their gauge wheels. The lift arms raise the mower when you don't use it and lower it to the ground to mow. The gauge wheels control the height of the cut.

Yeah, I was wondering about that also. On a B3030 why wouldn't you use the lift lever indicator to determine cutting height and only use the wheels to prevent scalping?? I just can't see the guage wheels lasting very long if they are carrying the deck all the time???

That's interesting because I tried that when I got my tractor and it's not possible to do that and have a nice cut. By using the hitch to lower the deck just a bit, the deck is not parallel to the ground, it's tilted (the front of the deck is higher than the rear).

The gauge wheels are greased and the bushings are replacable. I'm in my second year and I looked at the bushings no later than last week and they were almost like new. So I have many many years ahead of me before I need to change them.

The 72" deck is a drive-over. But you must raise the gage and anti scalp wheels so the deck set on the ground. You also need to some wedges to get front wheels up to deck height. It is much easier to use the FEL or floor jack to raise front of tractor. It is best to have a hard flat surface to install or remove the deck.
