kubota/deere 43HP engine specs

In comparing engine specs(HP&Torque), I noticed kubota rates horsepower at 2600 RPM and deere rates theirs at 2400. I have 2 questions. First, would HP be the same at the same engine speeds? Also, what would the torque specs look like on both? Models are deere 4120 and kubota 4330. Thanks.

Mike,

Too many variables to be able to intelligently answer. Your best bet is to get a graph of the engines performance and compare directly at various rpms. Also, look at BSFC or brake specific fuel consumption. Smaller is better at the same HP levels.

In all fairness, I don't think you will be able to find much real difference in comparable engines from Deere or Kubota. Both provide excellent, reliable and powerful engines.

All other things being equal, the Deere would have more torque since power is torque multiplied by RPM.

Another thing to consider is "Torque Rise" in the attached article on engines:

Compare the torque vs RPM curve if available.
Which one hax max torque nearest to the PTO rpm of the engine ?

thanks for your input everyone, but not much help! I have been trying to find hp/torque specs/charts but have had no luck. I did find a new test report for the 4320 at that nebraska tractor test web site but nothing from a comparable kubota. One thing that I did notice on most test reports is that a turbocharged engine had alot more torque than a naturally aspirated engine. Example: Kubota m5700 tested had 50.4HP and 122.9 lb. ft. torque ---JD 5225 tested had 46.2HP and 158 lb. ft. of torque. That much of a difference in torque should be noticable? It would be interesting to see which one would perform better( more HP or more torque). ANY BETS?

It may well depend on how flat the curve is. When I bought my tractor(s), I paid little attention to things like HP, torque and even curves. My main criteria was A. Price and B. is this the tractor that does what I need based on ergonomics, styling, comfort and a host of other things like how easy the loader removed/replaced. If there are other tractors with more torque and HP then what I purchased at a comparable price, I would not know nor would it matter, I am suffciently satisfied.
