Canopy Kubota canopy

[Clammer]

while watching the front bucket and watching the backhoe, I forgot to watch the upper canopy and hit a branch...no booze involved... I cracked the canopy. I took the canopy to a body shop but they can't do anything. The glue won't stick to it. It must be some special kind of plastic that Kubota found someplace. Anyone got any ideas short of buying a new canopy?

Most plastic materials need to be joined with a solvent that "welds" them together. Pick up your Yellow Pages and find a local plastics supplier. They can undoubtedly help you out. Do be aware that these solvents require care to be taken when you are using them, including a respirator, eye protection and gloves of an appropriate material to protect you.

How bad of a crack? if it's not bad you could stop drill it and fill it. i might even think about fiberglass or use a epoxy called dp805 by 3m products. you can get it at industrial supply stores. i would think about using a backing plate of plastic to give the area extra strength.

As said you could try plastic welding it i just don't have alot of experience in that.
you can also sew it . drill a series of holes along the crack and sew with safety wire. i have repaired many plexiglass windows this way in the military on helicopters.
but we really need to know just how this crack looks.
