Hi all,
I'm looking to purchase my first tractor and need some input on what everyone thinks would be the better choice.
The first one is a 2005 Kubota BX2230 (bought new in 2006) with 265 hours that comes with FEL and 60" MMM. Original owner is selling it and it has been meticulously maintained. Owner is very mechanically inclined, so I'm confident the machine has been taken care of. Includes a few small extras. I can get it for around $9100.
The other one is a 2013 Branson 2400H with only 25 hours with FEL and Land Pride back blade. Only 3 months old and has only been used for plowing snow. The factory cover is still on the rear PTO and it's never been used. The full Branson warranty is transferable to the new owner. I can get it for $10,000, which I think it a steal. I priced a new one and it's around $13,000 w/out taxes.
We're going to be building a house this spring, so I suspect I'll get a lot of use out of the tractor for landscaping, moving fill, etc. I also plan to use the tractor for mowing my lawn, snow removal, brush cutting trails in the woods (there are already existing logging trails, so not too heavy of cutting), and tilling up about a 1 acre food plot for hunting.
I realize if I got the Branson, I'd have to pick up a rear finish mower for the lawn and I'm guessing the Kubota with the 60" MMM may be a little more ideal to use as a primary lawn mower (let me know if you think otherwise). If I bought the Kubota, I'd have to either get a back blade or rear snowblower.
The Branson is little bigger and seems to have much better ground clearance (8" vs 13" I believe). The only thing I'm worried about on the Branson is the reliability vs. the Kubota. The warranty would obviously help short term, but I'm thinking long term down the road.
So what does everyone think...get the Kubota for $9100 or Branson for $10,000? Which would be the better deal?
