Kubota bx2230 front tire alternatives?

Hi everyone, This is my first post here;

I just inherited my father's bx, and the first thing I need is front tires. (18x8.5r8) He always had trouble with them and now I do too. I'd really like to replace the whole tire/wheel assembly with some solid tires but I'm not sure where to start looking, or even what good search terms to give google! I'm basically a brand new tractor owner...Never had to look for this type of thing before!

Go to your local Kubota dealer and get a salesman to order through wholegoods like he was ordering tires for a new tractor.Last december I bought a new BX 2360 and chose turf tires after getting it I also wanted R-4s so my salesman ordered through wholegoods and got me a complete set mounted on new rims for around $475.00 with taxs.

It's not clear what "trouble" means, what problem are you trying to solve. Does that mean they're going flat a lot? Also not clear what you mean by solid tires- you can get them foamed so they can't go flat, but that's pretty heavy and seems like a bit of overkill to me. You can buy a better quality tire at any good truck/industrial tire place. I had them put tubes in mine to prevent slow leaks. There's lots of dissenting opinions on tubes, slime, filled, etc. That's a whole issue itself.

I may of heard of issues in getting the tire sizes for the BX xx00 and xx30 series tractors rims as the xx50 ans xx60 have different sized rims on the front. The salesman at the dealer can get the newer size tire/wheel assemblies through whole goods.

ah..ok, I'll elaborate. There not only worn out, but even when they were new thet would loose air through the bead like crazy. when I finally took them off the rims for replacement, I found the bead area to be rusty and pitted. God only knows how long they've been like that. Also, my dad had a habit of getting hung up on rocks and trees and stuff so these rims are shot. Now by solid, I'm imagining something similar to some wheels I came across at a army surplus store. the tire was integral with the wheel, and there were a bunch of holes through the side wall. I can try to post a picture if you wish, 'cause I stink at descriptions! Any way these wheels seem indestructible.

Problems w/fronts usually related to FEL-equipped BXes and/or low tire pressure...enough tire/rim movement to allow dirt etc to work it's way between...creating rust/leaks...

Understand your frustration...my BX plagued w/bad valve stems...but IMO solid tire not good solution...operating conditions not same as skidsteer on smooth surface...

This may not be a timely answer, but better late than never. I had problems with my front tires couple of years ago. Ruptured the tire in the middle of the tread somehow. I had always been very concerned by the tire roll and deflection with heavy FEL loads, so I went looking for a better tire. I found a much heavier duty Carlisle Multi Trac C/S in 18x8.5x8 with the same mounted dimensions as the stock OTR Grassmaster. It's also an 8 ply instead of 4 ply like the stock OTR. See my post here if interested. It is much more stable at the price of stiffer ride. Quick web search showed they're still available at ~$80 each.
