Kubota BX2200 Grass Catcher-Chute Question

Hello all, I was going through the threads and couldn't find an answer to my question, so I figured I'd ask around...

Looking into purchasing a used (but clean) grass catcher for my BX2200. It is a GCK60-BX that came off of a BX2200;however I have a RCK54-BX (54") deck. In checking with a popular online retailer (*essick's) I was quoted about $200 for a new cute adapter.

My question is there a was to modify the 60" cute adapter to fit my 54" deck or do I need to purchase a new one?

Sounds like a job for a Sawzall and a ball-peen hammer to me.

In all seriousness, I'd do my best at modifying the existing adapter - it certainly can't be too hard to just make it a tad narrower. If you screw it up and it gets ruined, THEN by the other one. You have nothing to lose.

I have a grass catcher on my 54" deck. I don't know how the 60" unit attaches to the deck but the 54" chute adaptor makes a fairly precise fit to the deck, and includes a threaded hole in the steel bracket that receives a bolt that passes through a hole in the deck deflector...sometimes pretty fussy to align everything and attach to the deck, which leads me to believe any variations may be a challenge to rectify/adapt.
But as Jay4200 stated, it's worth a try.
