I recently moved into a new house on 5 acres, the lot is moderatly steep and has many rocks, stumps and over all is fairly rough. I am planing to buy the BX22 and after the final grade i plan to do most of the landscaping myself. I have two logging roads that i want to develop into trails. one of the roads is at about a 15 degree incline, would it be feasable to tow a 15-20 cubic foot trailer filled with fire wood up such a incline? and does the BX22 sound like the right tractor for my needs?

I too, have a 5 acre lot with a new house on it and decided on the BX22 after much study of the Orange, Green and Blue. I liked the smaller size of the BX22 (less intimidating to a Garden Tractor owner like myself) and certainly the price of the BX22 was a huge factor as it was several thousands less than the others with a backhoe attachment.

I've got several grades of 25 degrees on my property, and the tractor does not seem to bog or slow at all when going over the hills and dales. Usually, I can go at half throttle even with 500 lb. or more of rock in the FEL. I've not tried pulling a wagon of firewood up them, but my Hasty - VAC rig fully loaded with grass clippings (probably weighs about half a ton when full) has no problem going up the hills.

You'll find it's a very versatile tractor that can do a lot, but it's not a bulldozer - so it would be unrealistic to expect to plow fireroads into trails without using something like a box blade on the rear or similar.

Highly recommended for your size lot. I've been real pleased with mine and have no regrets nor desire for something larger.

I did have a bulldozer go down my fire roads, I just need to tidy up a bit. How is the backhoe to operate? sounds as if it may take some practice. Can you explain what a Hasty Vac is, I assume it is a mower attachment. I have looked into getting the canopy for the BX22 any thoughts on that?

Tom - I'm up to about 30hrs on my '22. About 10 are backhoe hours. I had no experience prior to this with a backhoe. I've become pretty good at it after only 10 hours and improve with every use. Alot of the movements are becoming automatic. Not ready to operate it in my sleep yet but I'm getting there.....slowly but surely. C
