I tried asking this elsewhere but everyone was so intent on “discussing” the pros and cons of hydro verses gears I don’t think it even got noticed, so I thought I would ask it here where we discuss Kubotas. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

( Now, which part is overbuilt on your tractor model? Some the hyd pump is the big heavy part, & the engine will stall out before the hydro bypass goes. Some, the engine is the strongest link, & the hydro pump will bypass before the engine dies. This latter is more typical, and actually probably a better setup. We assume some of the engine power is going to the power steering, pto, etc. etc. So the engine is probably a bit stronger on most tractors than the hydro pump bypass setting. )

On tractors like the Kubota BX’s series where various HP engines all use the same hydro (as far as I know), are the hydro pump bypasses set to different values to match the different HP engines? If they are all set the same and the 15 HP version will lift the bypass then as far as power to the wheels goes nothing will be gained with the higher 18 & 22 HP versions. Correct?

Interesting question.....but, the horsepower at the pto is dependent on the engine not the hst. I have to guess that each engine and the hst connected to same must match as to bypass and or other settings.....

My bx2200 runs my Wallenstein chipper but the 15 hp found on the bx1500 would not have the hp to handle it. I would imagine that the snow blower, mower, bush hog etc would be the same....if you have the smaller engine then you would have to downsize the implements.....

I have a B6100 and have stalled the tractor with a rear blade, so at least on my old beast the HST is "stronger" than the motor.

Yes, there would definitely be a difference in PTO power for running mowers and such. I was referring only to the power transmitted to the wheels.
Of course since the BX1500 has enough power to spin the wheels, sending more of the available power to the wheels on the larger BXs wouldn’t make much sense considering they all have similar size tires and weight.

I was just delivered a BX1500 with BB, FEL, MMM; read the manuals and understood, I thought. I put the mower in highest position, lowered the BB to scrap driveway gravel. Went 300 ft and have hydraulic leak under left axle and mower is stuck in up position. All other hydraulics work fine. What did i do wrong. Dealer is picking tractor up tomorrow to check it out. Feeling foolish and mad.

The BX1500 does not use the same hydro assembly as the 1800/1830 and 2200/2230.

Part numbers for the larger models are K2561-14000 and K2561-14002.
For the 1500, the assembly is K2511-14000.

I don't have the specs, but they are definitely not the same components.

Also, the 1500 does have smaller tires all around and gives up 40-80 pounds to its larger cousins.

Are you sure it is hydraulic fluid? The wet spot on my left axle is diesel leaking from the sending unit.
On your MMM, make sure you don’t have it set to the “TOP” position and that the knob controlling the lowering speed is not turned to the lock position.

Well, my BX1500 must be set low, because I can stall all 4 wheels with engine wide open and gear in low. The attached pic is how I found out. The ramp to the bottom is about 45 deg. Also found out you don't always need a backhoe if you are willing to move a little more dirt. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Raise the BB, and THEN turn know to set mow height to (perhaps) 2". Now lower the BB/mower.

Left axle = deisel (most likely).
Give it a sniff... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
