I want to down size on tractors. I currently own a John Deere 3320. Nice tractor, no complaints with it. I've used it about 1,000 hours. Mostly have used it for snow removal. Did some digging, and mowing. I no longer need a big size tractor.

I have a heafty driveway to plow, etc.

I'm looking at the BX 2680, BX 23S or the B2601. I like some of the features on the BX 2680 and 23S. The fact I do not have to climb up onto the cab to refill the fuel tank is a blessing. I have a diesel fuel tank on my property and that feeds the tractor. But having to climb up to refill the tank is a royal pain in the butt.

What I like about the BX is the filtering system for the tractor. I like the easy on/off of the loader......I think I have had my loader off 2 times on the 3320 because it is a pain to remove and put back on. I have a Curtiss Cab I put on and off.

Pros and con's on the replacement tractor. I really do not want anything bigger than the B2601 as I am close to 70 and need a tractor that I can still get into when I am 85......assuming I do not do something stupid on a bicycle or in an airplane.

Any thoughts?

Sorry about the heading. Operator error.

I owned a Kubota BX for years and recently switched to a JD 2025R. I would look at the B2601,I’m afraid you would find the BX tractors to small after coming from the larger JD. The BX tractors are great machines but almost all tractors in the size you are looking at have end loaders that come off easy. I’m not sure what other tasks you have in mind? Mowing at all?

Will you plow or blow your driveway?

If you will blow, are you looking at a front blower?

I am also close to 70, one of the things I liked about the LS XR was the tank fill spout is at knee level. BTW, I did not want to deal with either removing the FEL (easy to do with the LS) or the front blower sub-frame so went with a pull type 3PH blower

you might want to read my thread " a tractor saga... education is expensive" I have been up and down and just traded a BX 2680 for a B2601. Physically only slightly larger than the BX but far more tractor. Three speed tranny vs 2 , precise three point adjustment, stronger build, more ground clearance and a larger hydraulic pump which almost doubles the lifting capacity. Plus the B2601 does not sit as tall as the B2650 so even though the fuel filler is at the top of the hood it is easier to fill without climbing so high. Of for reference I'm 77 with a bad back and arthritic knees ... aging sucks but don't quit

I have a lot of options on tractor use and as much as the BX sub compacts are really cute little machines that are over performers compared to many I would never buy less then a three range transmission!

I've a 2025R and am considering switching to a B2301 or B2601. Do not like the idea of the hydraulic cooler and fan underneath like on the BXs. The fan would get ripped away by brush in the work that I do. I even had brush remove my oil dipstick once when I had a Gravely.

Had a lemony 1025R for almost 2 years. I once accidently shut off the fuel supply by hitting the lever with my right foot. It was just too small and, of course, lemony. Liked being about to refill the tank located underneath one rear fender vs. going up top on the 2025R and the 4010 before the 1025R.

What is making you want to switch from a 2025r to a 2601? How do they compare?

I'd look at an LX2601. It's like about a 2.5 series JD. I'm looking at either a B2301 (don't need the hp) or LX2601SU (don't need mid PTO) to replace my JD 2025R. They still have turning brakes.
