These 2 tractors are almost the exact price. The B7800 has more hp 30/22 vs the john Deere 24/18. The John Deere has position control vs 1/4 inching on Kubota. Would there be much noticable difference in the performance of these 2 tractors? It seems like the Kubota gives you a little more for the same money. Has anyone else considered these 2 tractors? if so which did you choose and why. I have both dealers the same distance away and both seem pretty good.

It should be the 2520 being compared to the 7800 - not interested in the which is better part of your question, but there is plenty to be found on the subject on this forum

I was comparing the 2320 to the B7800 because they were the same price. I never asked which is better (I know better than to ask that) I just wondered if the extra hp would be real noticable in most applications. I like the ergonomics of the Deere better, but I like the extra power of the Kubota. The Kubota only weighs about 100lb more than the 2320. What it comes down to is I want to spend around 16k for tractor w/fel so these 2 tractors fit my budget that is the main reason I chose to compare them. I thought maybe other than green paint and the position control there may be another reason to choose the 2320 that I am not aware of.

which tractor best fits YOUR NEEDS? and which one do you feel more comfortable with. HAVE you tried them both? neither is better than the other just one may better for your use.

Tonybada:

If you are comparing tractors based primarily on price you should focus on tractor and dealer "feel". I have read quite a few TBN posts about readership dissatisfaction with the 1/4 inch position control on Kubotas. I would focus on what is comfortable for you on the tractor seat. I would try not to get "hung up" on the "numbers" (ie HP). For many purposes like mowing, light material moving, etc. a lighter tractor is preferable; for heavy dirt/material engaging tasks a heavier tractor is preferable. There are minor differences with ~5HP differentials. In reality I do the same thing with my 29/23+HP tractor as I did with my 13/11+HP tractor on my property. What is different is that I can do some things quicker and I do have to approach my tasks differently. I will honestly say that in some applications on my property I wish I still had my Ford 1100.

You should also provide the readership with more information as to your location, property, terrain, needs, immediate projects, as well as long term projects in order to help us spend your hard earned money on a tractor and attachments . Jay

Very tough question tonybada, i think the hp difference is substantial (no offence jbrumberg) i also think position control is a huge deal. You should do a full day demmo on your property with both machines and go from there.

Lawn king:

No offence taken :D. I agree with you in that you do start to see a power difference with 5+ HP, but generally both the B7800 and the JD2320 could probably do what tonybada would want them to do. The "B" in theory could do things a little quicker and/or efficiently than the JD. As we do not know what tonybada's primary tasks are and we are not knowledgable about his terrain, property, location, and/or long term projects at present this dialog is kind of hypothetical (but fun :)). I also have questions about the utility of the B7800's 1/4" position control setup, but it is a popular Kubota model. I also agree that tonybada should try to get an onsite demonstraton for a real comparison between tractors. I will say that I still do the same things on my property with my new NH as I did with my old Ford; I just do everything twice as fast :D! Jay

Tonybada: Please let the readership know what you intend to do with a tractor and we will all be willing to provide you with our opionions as well as help you spend your money.

I did the same comparison 2 months ago. Ducati996 is correct that it is JD2520 vs. B7800. Actually I went with the B3030 because I wanted the 30hp and 3pt. is much better than the 7800, along with a few other items. I looked and tested both green and orange several times. Each model has it good and bad points. I spent more time looking at tractors than for my wifes new car. [That was just a matter of what color.] Both dealers were very good and same distance away from me. It really was a toss up. Some guys are really brand loyal so you will get many opinions. There was a post recently about B7800 maybe being replaced, new model? Anyway, enjoy kicking the tires.

You will find folks are very passionate when comparing models - for example Deere has a very passionate group when both the 2320 & 2520 are compared with each other. You will find the same passion when the 7800, B2630 & B3030 are compared to each other - one big passion fest, makes for great readings in either section -:)

best of luck with your choices -

Duc

All good infomation in this thread. I cant really comment on the deere as i dont know much about that model. Position control is one of those things that you dont know what you are missing if you have never used or had it. Same deal with the great snowblower debate, operators like their rear snowblowers, but once they spend an hour or so operating a front mount, they dont ever want to hear rear blower again. JMHO.
