Admittedly, I am a novice.....

I want to make sure I know where the engine oil drain plug is. The Owners manual is not clear to me. One post I read made it seem like it was inside the oil filter.

Any pointers for me?

Thanks, Jeff

Jeff,
No, it's NOT inside the left sided oil filter, but mid-line under neath the tractor,
just a little forward of the dash plane, the look uoward. ID the oil pan. It's resessed and a tight fit for a socket. If you have a mid-mower deck, then that will need to come off first.
regards,
Steve

It's in pretty much the same spot it would be on a car. I have the same tractor and it's tough to see with the FEL subframe, but there is a little cut out off of the frame that allows you access to it.

Funny thing is I just changed the oil on mine.... I have one of those circular trays that you can let the oil drain on the top, it runs ito the bottom and you can close it to dispose of it somewhere else. I didn't have the plug open on it so all the oil just sat right on the top of it. If there was a few more drops of oil, it would have been leaking all over the garage floor! Mine also took exactly the amount that the manual says (3.2 quarts if I remember correctly) and it was exactly in the halfway point between "full" and "add" on the dipstick.
