233 hours - started right up - ran 30 seconds, coughed, spit out white smoke, now won't start. Turns over and emits very small amount of whitish smoke. Fuel filter or something worse?

My 7510 got trash in the fuel tank and would die out on me. I removed the water separator and pulled the fuel line off and drained the fuel on a couple of occasions. Eventually the line was cleared ... no troubles since. You might try something like that before spending a lot of money.
