Thanks very much BG and JWR for your help, took all of about 10 minutes to get it off, Penetrating oil overnight and a few taps with a Ball Pein hammer did the trick.

Post script: Not exactly related but almost ... I bought a BX2200 abut 20 years ago, beauty with only 220 hrs on it. Like new. Still good one today. I noticed the orig owner had left the drive shaft for the belly mower dangling under the tractor. When I asked him about it he said "Does that come off?" Ye Gods! If he or anyone had turned on the PTO with that thing dangling can you imagine the damage that would have occurred with it flailing around !?

Oh boy, This is my 2nd Kubota, but the first with a Mower Deck, I never touch anything that I know nothing about, without consulting someone who knows.
