Hi there,
I have a Kubota B6100HST that I use mainly for cutting grass with a belly mower. Last fall, the last couple of times I cut the grass the low oil pressure light came on after it had been working for a while (1/2 hour or so). Not sure what the problem may be. Anyone have any suggestions?:newhere:

1, check oil level.

2, any ime an IDIOT lamp for oil presure tells me something, I immediately pull the sender and plumb in a manual gauge so I can actually SEE what the oil pressure is doing.

an oil sender for a lamp is simply a pressure switch.. many of the common ones open at 6 psi.. that's not very comforting.. ie.. if it's comeing on, and is correct.. you might have 5-6 psi oil pressure.. and IMHO.. 6 psi per 1000 rpm is bar bone minimun to not detonate the engine. of course.. the sender could be going out and not accurate.. thus the check with a mechanical gauge.

post back yer results.. or.. if gauge says oil pressure is fine.. get a new sender... ps.. sender if a 1 wire job is just a grounding swich.. so make sure the wire running from sender to lamp is not chaffed and rubbing on the block making the lamp flash.

First thought is sender as Soundguy suggests. Didn't give hours...so possibly high-hour engine where increased bearing/oil pump tolerences "leaking" pressure at low rpm. Sometimes heavier weight oil can buy more time...

Hi guys, sorry its been so long. I got a mechanical gauge and everything ended up being good, just a bad sensor. Now I've sold the Kubota B6100 and got a Cub Cadet 1872 with a 54" deck. So far so good, got a few bugs to work out though. Thanks for all the good suggestions.

glad swapping the sender for a gauge helped. it's what i always do.. seeing real oil pressure vs a lamp or no lamp is always dicey.. :)
