I have a b2710 with about 500 hrs. The range selector lever (L,M,H) moves freely and with no resistance. The tractor is stuck in high range and otherwise runs fine. I checked the external roll pin and it is not sheared, so I think the issue is internal to the range select housing.
I am trying to learn if I need to split the tractor to repair the range shift assembly, and where to do the split. Does anyone know if there is an access route I'm not seeing? If not, can I remove the rear differential and range select housing, or do I need to work from the clutch housing back?
I'm a mechanic but work on heavy truck and suspension, not tractors, and will be attempting to repair the tractor in my own shop. Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks.
