I have been using Shell Rotella T6 15-40 in my 2650 since the first oil change. I haven't been able to get 15-40 in quarts only gallon or 2.5 gallon sizes so when I do an oil change I always have oil left over. I change oil roughly every year to year and half. My local O'Reilly's has 5-40 in quarts and am thinking I may switch to this weight. I live on Cape Cod so temps range typically from about O F to about 90 F.

I buy oil in gallon containers (Kubota 10W-30 per OE manual). I also keep some empty 10W-30 quart containers for capping off in between oil changes. Works for me. Lots of TBN'ers like the 15-40 weight as I recall. That 5W-40 probably works okay too.

Cheers,
Mike

I buy a few cases of T6 5w-40 (gallon jugs) when it goes on sale. In addition to using T6 5w-40 in my RAM Cummins, I also use it in my B3030 and RTV900 since they are both used in the winter months. RAM specifies 5w-40 when operating in temperatures less than 0 degrees F. Both the RTV and the B3030 start much easier when very cold than when using the 15w-40 which I still run in my ZD323.

I use 5w30 in both diesel engines, bought from the local VW dealership. In the future, I'll look for 0w30 M1 ESP. Have occasionally seen it available for less than what I've paid VW for the Castrol LL03. 5w30 is what VW has specified in its diesel for many years.

In Cape Cod, I'd want to use 0w30 because you'll be starving your overhead valve system of oil for a few seconds in the winter. When I had a VW Cabrio with hydraulic valves. The only oil that would not provide a couple seconds or so of hydraulic valve hammer, due to drain back of the oil, was 0w30. Think 0w20 was just coming out about then. Should have gone to that.

We have been running T6 5W40 in our 1635 since the first oil change. We run it year round, have never had an issue.

I'd use Kubota oil until warranty expires, 2 or 3 oil changes in 5 years.
