Kubota B26 leaking hydraulic tank

I have a 2015 Kubota B26 with a leak on the top of the hydraulic tank. Thought it might be the O ring and seals but when I removed the tank and did a leak test with air pressure, turns out it is leaking around the mounting bracket. It is leaking on the end of the bracket on both sides. Has this happened to anyone else? I was shocked really because the tank does not have any damage to it. Almost like it is a manufacturers defect.

Is that tank for some auxiliary equipment. MY B26 doesn't have a separate tank, only the tractor frame reservoir.
I would say that it is a factory defect but easily fixed with a little welding.

Yes it is the reservoir that fits in between the frame. I don't know why this happened but it is a fairly bad leak. I couldn't park it without having a catch pan underneath to collect the mess from the leak. Thought I may take it over to my dealer to show them. The tractor has 950 hours on it. I've never heard of this happening to anyone else but I just thought I would put it out there in case someone else has similar problems.

Do not go welding on it yourself. Even hydraulic fluid can vaporize and explode.

In a high school shop in my area, a student was killed cutting a drum which previously held olive oil in order to make a barbecue.

Get to someone with the knowledge and equipment to clean the tank and then fill it with an inert gas like Argon, Nitrogen or CO2 before welding.

if that is the same one that is in my 2009 B26 it's about a 750 dollar part, looking at your picture and the parts book there should not be an opening under that bracket and yes I know I am probably stating the obvious. Maybe the local Kubota dealer will cover it with some sort of warranty after all it is a 2015. Good luck

I went to the dealer and they wanted nothing to do with me, (other than selling me a new tank) so I had no choice but to have it welded. It passed the leak test and I just put it back on the tractor today. Put it through some work that I needed done and there are no longer any leaks. Enclosed some photos of the repair.

I would spread that load out on the tank more. Leaking on both sides makes me believe it cracked from vibration.

Not having that bracket go all the way to the corners makes the tank weak.

Yeah, as WOODY says, there is prob no intentional hole underneath the bracket. That means that stresses around the weld(s) caused cracking and leaks. The bracket should have been welded all the way across from the beginning. Not to plug any leaks, but to distribute the loads.

I had the previous generation B21, which I refurbished, and the hyd tank was cast steel with a mild steel cover on the bottom. No welds at all, and a completely different means of support. The carcass of the B26 tank seems to be all formed mild steel, and therefore, welded connections.

Did the ends of the support brackets also have welds on them?
