Share my technique. Backhoe is stored in old cattle feeding stall. Mostly dirt floor.
Built a timber pallet to set the hoe on. -9” high. I Manual says to to block under. This helps with the alignment and short hose length.
I get close enough to connect hoses. Turn off, relive pressure, light apply parking brake, connect to hoe then restart.
Next, with care and off the tractor use the hoe controls to better align backhoe to mounting brackets. Then by hand use the HST peddle while standing beside the tractor to back slowly up. Can’t press too much or safety interlock will kill the engine. May have to adjust engine rpm a little above idle. Sometimes have to readjust hoe for alignment again. Slow and gentle moves.
Once the lower mounts are hooked, rotate the hoe back to insert the two top pins. I adjust the hoe controls until the top pins slide in and lock by hand.
Taking the 3pt arms off and on is hardest part and most time consuming part.
The
M59 backhoe is very similar and actually a little easier to mount/dismount. Doesn’t need a pallet.
That’s my technique that I’m comfortable with. Use the same technique to connect to 3pt equipment.
You can never go wrong following the manual. Just takes a lot of getting off/on the tractor, old body twisting and cussing. You need to figure the best and safest way for you.
