Hey all, just thought I would post up the fix I put together today. Have creeped the forums a few times for help, hopefully this helps someone else. Yesterday while working on a steep incline the cast section of my front axle that attached to the steering arm broke.

Did not even want to entertain the thought of looking into the price of a replacement hub.

The problem:

The solution:

Cut the area down to allow for a piece of 3/4 inch plate to fit snugly. Be very careful to not go too deep and hurt the hubs integrity.

I bored the old thread holes out to 1/2 inch and used grade 8 bolts and lock nuts to sandwich the plate and steering arm to the hub.

Welded everything together with strength in mind.

Didn't see a situation where that arm would have to come off anytime soon so I welded it right to the hub as well for added support. Should last forever.

Put it through a few "stress" tests afterwards and it should hold up great. Had to grind down the corners of the plate to clear the inside of the rim.

Cheers,

Nate

Great looking job!! What type of welding rods did you use? Looks like SS.
