 Just bought a used kub b2320 with 80 hours, the dealer was prepping for delivery and discovered the housing that the oil filter screws to was cracked. They are replacing the part but this is kind of a major motor teardown no?? Should I be worried? The dealer claims to have kubota certified mechanics, but I am a little freaked out

Work under Warranty?

I would not be that concerned about it. I am unsure of the filter location on the B2320, however they are often exposed on compact tractors. This means if your brush hogging or working in the woods they can be hit. On the tree farm I used to work at we broke the mounting ears on the B7500 filter housing. This was actually beneficial for us because we could zip tie the housing horizontal out of the way (redneck solution).

Well the dealer is fixing it but I dont know if they are submitting it as a warranty issue to kubota?

I wouldn't worry about how they cover it as long as it doesn't cost you.
No need to freak out. If they missed it and the oil blew out and the engine seized then I'd freak out.
Get paperwork showing that they performed the repair and at what hours/date/parts. If they say it's an internal repair, no charge, still ask for a receipt.
Post back results.

What would worry me is what happened in the past with the previous owner. Did he loose all the oil then trade it in ?? Maybe that was what Coyote was alluding to with the paper work suggestion he had. If it is a crack with no leak then I don't see a problem unless he tore open the filter which you have no way of knowing.

Basically, yes. You don't know the prior history but you do know it has 80 hours on the clock and the cracked housing could easily be the reason why. In addition to getting a detailed receipt I'd ask for some sort of warranty if it doesn't already have one, AND I'd put 5w-40 synthetic oil in it at the soonest possible oil change. And, possibly get the oil that's in it currently sent out for analysis to see if there is any evidence of excessive wear on the bearings, etc.
Buyer beware is your best approach to anything used.
