Kubota B 2620 stall's and chocks

For the last few years my 2010 B2620 will periodically choke and stall. Most of the time if I disengage the pto and pull the throttle down to the idle position the engine will catch its breath and I can throttle it back up and all is ok until the problem re-occurs. The air filters and fuel filters are changed regularly. For a while I tried running the tractor (in the winter ) without the air cleaner and I could not get the problem to re-occur. I thought for sure that the problem was the air inlet tube collapsing and choking the engine. So I made some modifications to the air tube and the problem has returned and now has occurred with the air cleaner removed. Not sure where to turn next, Any ideas ???

I'm just guessing but it sounds like the fuel system. Maybe "stuff" in the fuel tank like gels....do you use Power Service? Fuel cap could be partially plugged and doesn't let air into the tank. Check the fuel lines, maybe one is collapsed......sorry I am not much help.

Interesting that reducing the engine load and throttling back allows it to catch its breath ( Assuning that you are blowing snow). Almost sounds like something blocking the fuel flow that 'backs off' so to speak when the fuel flow diminishes. Had a diesel years ago on the farm that used to huff and puff and turnrd out to be a loose clamp on the fuel line that was allowing it to suck air.

Might be helpful if we knew under what conditions it occurs...eg summer/winter, type of work it is doing when it happens etc.

Air Tempeture does not make a difference. The machine will do this in the winter and summer. I am now looking at the fuel system since I seem to have exhausted all air intake possibilities. I did remove the gas cap and there is no debris or gunk in it. What I did notice is that the slit thats in an x pattern is very tight. Possibly not allowing the tank to vent??? Im going to try running the machinr with the fuel cap loose so I know for sure its breathing and go from there. Any other ideas out there???

Well, from what you've told us, its NOT an air problem....
has to be fuel related, like kanook stated, could be air infiltration in the fuel delivery,
since it runs ok at idle but when more fuel is required, it doesn't get it or not enough of it.
Check your fuel lines/returns lines etc.

I am having the same problem...(well, sort of). The engine "slugs down" and quits even at an idle. I think the fuel filter gets clogged by the junk in the bio-diesel. Seems to happy only in the summer.

Unlike a carburated engine, not much of a path for air to get near the fuel. You can check the line from the tank to the lift pump, after that its all pressurized. With no gauge on a couple of tractors I have ran out of fuel from time to time. Once bled, it runs like normal. Make note of the exhaust, IE does it go black or white. If not, I might look at things like a flaky seat switch. Until I disabled the seat switch (by nature of adding a suspension seat) my B3200 would sputter and die if I moved my butt around on the seat trying to see whats in front of the bucket. The seat switch can be unplugged and then short out the terminals with a piece of wire and see if it solves the issue?

I should also mention that I have noticed my key switch is acting up. Sometimes after I start it, I notice the glow plug light is on. Seems the switch does not kick back to the "ignition for lack of a better term" position after starting. Not sure what an extended glow plug cycle might do but make sure the Key switch operates normally. Likely a very similar one to my 2011 B3200.

I have been running my machine with the fuel cap loose and that seems to have corrected the problem temporarily. I believe my fuel cap is not venting properly. the perminate solution was ordering a new machine will be here is a week or so

My B2920 did this a little while back. A little lube sprayed in the ignition switch cured the problem. I used Liquid Wrench but I would recommend to you a lube made specifically for ignition switches.
