i tried to take the underbelly mower off today...oh man.

Started off OK - front lever released the two support arms in front...

pulled a spring loaded pin on each side of the mowind deck that attached it to tractor...

disconnected the PTO shaft from the tractor's underbelly PTO....

so far so good right?

Then tried to roll it out to the side - it won't fit.

i toyed with the idea of backing up till the front wheels rolled over the top of th edeck, but it would have crushed a thin panel on top.

And I realized than that EVEN IF I WAS ABLE TO GET THE MOWER OUT FROM UNDER THE TRACTOR, THERE WAS STILL MOUNTING HARDWARE THAT WOULD LOWER EVERY TIME I LOWED THE 3 PT HITCH!

Can someone give their thoughts here and maybe some perspective? thanks.

On my B7100 and belly mower the mower was designed to be driven over for installation and removal.

Raising the front of the tractor should allow you to remove the mower from the side. This also worked on mine.:D

If you have a loader, lift the front of the tractor, easiest way.....

The wheels also have to be turned in one direction to get the mower 1/2 way out and then turn opposite to get the rest of the way out...

My 7510 has "hanger brackets" to pin the mower lifting mechs out of the way when not in use.

Good luck

I have always driven over my mower on my B7100 to put it on or take it off. I tried to roll it out under the tractor, but it is much more difficult. I do use a couple of short 1x6 boards, probably 18 inches long, as a ramp which seems to help. The tractor also should be in 4WD to do this. Makes it much easier. The only thing to keep in mind when driving over the mower to install it is to stop when the front wheels are on top of the mower and remove the boards, otherwise the rear wheels will start to go over the boards and you can't get them out. When the front wheels drop back to the ground and you have a problem. Don't ask me how I know. I am on my second mower deck on this older tractor, and I have done both of this this way. It does work a little better if you raise the gauge wheels to their highest setting (lowest cut) before you do this. Makes it easier to get the wheels up and over the deck.

I can't picture this - if I am backing up over the mowing deck, how would the rear wheels run over anything? boards as ramps between front wheels and deck, back up onto deck, the rear wheels never come into play...???

andrewj - I don't back over the mower, I drive forward over it. I back off it when I am taking it off. I use the boards either way, taking it off of purring it on, but only the front wheels go up the board. The back wheels always stay on the ground.

I can relate to andrewj's problem..... When I picked up my B7100, the deck was too wide for my trailer, so it had to be removed. Apparently the seller never had to remove it, and also never read the mower's owner's manual that he gave me, either! We removed it out the side, which required jacking up the tractor quite a bit. He even disconnected the wrong end of the driveshaft!

After reading the owner's guide, I tried it a few times exactly like Elsie71 says above. If you take a step back and look at the mower deck, you can see it has a "wedge" or ramp like shape to the top of it. Lower in the rear and higher in the front, so you drive forward over the deck to install, then forward again to remove.

I agree some 2X6" slabs make the drive a little easier. Also, don't forget to chock the wheels of the mower deck so it stays put while driving over.

If the mower is an RC60-71B, then it is meant to be a drive over deck. They can be a little frustrating to get off an on but once you find a "system" then it only takes a minute either way!!
