Kubota 7060 question

/ Kubota 7060 question #21
So, is the 12x12 transmission an upgrade from the 8x8?

Is the 12x12 a wet clutch and 8x8 a dry clutch?

I am looking at specs online, but one of us is not extremely clear.

Thanks!
Yes, the 12X12 is an upgrade and is not inexpensive.

I specified it for my M9960 ROPS so as to reduce the need to stop to change ranges while mowing.

Lots of good advice here already!
I don’t think you’ll go wrong either way with the transmission choice. Having the extra gears can’t hurt, trying to find that ideal speed while mowing or whatever.
I do a lot of road travel so the 12 was the only way for me.... 40kph (~25mph) top speed is nice on a 10 mile run.
With the road travel pulling the dump trailer I also do some loader work and and a fair bit of slow idling around but the Highway driving must load up things enough the DPF does not regen very often.
I was told by someone the creeper gears are not overly robust and not meant for heavy work?’looking at the shop manual it does not look like a terrible job to install them at a later date yourself if you want them?
I have the 3 rear outlets and use them all at different times.
Does the 8x8 also come with all the adjustability gadgets on the 3pt hitch the same as the 12sp cab model?
I sometimes find the machine is slightly large for what I want to do (in a backyard, in the woods) but that’s More than made up by the lifting and towing capacity that would take twice the trips with a smaller unit. This M7060 to me is a Swiss Army knife tool, (a 3/4 ton towing and snow plow truck, skid steer, atv, field mower) so I’m happy to have the 12 speed, the cab, the extra rear outlets, and all the other luxury options that I likely don’t notice but would without them! Money well enjoyed more so than well spent but enjoyed makes it well spent. (I bought used and saved 15-20g off list price for a 2 year old machine with 250hrs)

i have an M8540 12x sp so that upgrade may be different on the xx60 series.... the added 12sp gears are very useful. the upgrade also increased my 3ph hyd lift capacity a lot (not sure on the specs) the lift cyl are also external. i highly recommend the upgrade
the 12 sp upgrade will increase your working speed versatility, so you may not need the creeper gear. what will you be using it for?
btw the creeper gears are not intended for soil engagement or heavy Fel work. more like seed drills, etc. apparently the gears are not as robust as the std gear for heavy work
anyway go with the 12sp if you have the option

I believe the electronic 4x4 puts the tractor in 4x4 when the brakes are applied so it may be a little safer for the guys that start down a hill with a heavy trailer in 2wd. it would be interesting to know top speed of 8x8 vs 12x12.

Can someone tell me how many years the emmission system on the 7060 has been out, or in production?

From day one of the M7060 introduction and I think that was from the tail end of 2013. I'm not aware of anyone with an emission issue on the M7060 and guys seem to operate them in all sorts of RPM conditions.

Thank you. I have not come across any issues that have been posted online either, that I have found. 7 years in production sounds pretty good.

I would have paid for the power shifting 24 speed transmission when I bought my M9960, but I needed a ROPS model and the 24 speed transmission is exclusive to cab models.

Here’s the ground speed chart linked from another thread

so from the chart we get 18mph for the 8x8 and 24.3 mph at 1960rpm for the 12x12 I wonder what happens past 1960 rpm.

It won’t go past 1960 rpm in 6th gear, there’s an idiot box hooked up that limits the rpm.
Annnd, for what it’s worth, legally (here anyway) 40kph is the max speed permitted on road for a slow moving vehicle.

/ Kubota 7060 question #33
Thats interesting. so if you set the hand throttle above 1960 and put it in 6th gear High range once you get to 24.3 mph the computer will reduce the rpm. Man, tractors are getting more and more complex.

I wonder if that 1960RPM governor is in the states as well?

/ Kubota 7060 question #35
Would the creeper gears be good for snowblower work that has been one of my apprehensions going to m7060 size machine instead of l6060 is not having infinite low gears for snow blowing.

/ Kubota 7060 question #36
It would probably work okay. and since you are on snow, traction would be limited so you probably wouldn't overload the creep gears.

I still wouldn`t give up the HST plus for a couple horsepower and a larger frame size.

2 reasons I went with the M4 I can稚 stand the hydraulic whine of HST and probably the biggest is I wanted a buddy seat sometimes my wife wants to ride with and my nephews are always wanting tractor rides. Test drove one and with the power reverser and declutch button it is easy to drive. Just not sure how well the snowblower will work just got a deal on a pronovost inverted so this will be the first year not plowing and pushing back.

I agree with you on the HST and am only interested in gear drive transmission.
