I have the deere. I have had my fair share of issues all of which are resolved. I don't think the deere and Kubota are a fair comparison though. The deere is a utility tractor while I think the kubotas would be considered a large compact. I don't know of any utility tractors with the hst option. We have the 12/12 power reverser and really like it for what we do. The hst would be handy for some tasks but we love the size and grunt of the Deere. The h240 is a monster too. One thing to think about would be on the loader getting the skid steer quick attach over the 500 series or global carrier system. I have the global and while it's easy, there are not many attachments out there for it unless you get the big stuff. I just bought an adapter system so I can retain the global but also have ssqa stuff too but it's high dollar.

Go to each dealer and test drive. See what you think.

Ive test drove the 5200 and the 5055e they dont have the 5800 is stock but its the same as the 5200 just with more horsepower. The john Deere I got quoted has the 12/12. Since I have not driven any tractors from 1970 or later, They seem the same to me. The john deere is heavier. Which do you think has the best resale value? I'm not sure what you mean by the skid steer quick attach over the 500 series or global carrier system, there are so many options its confusing.
I have 7 acres 1 that is garden ,100 plus fruit trees in an area and a 90x90 foot pond, and 4+ acres of lawn to mow. Only maybe 10 trees on my entire property. I will be getting a 72 inch finish mower and a tiller right away.

I think the Deere will hold better resale but from your needs and description, I think you would be better served with the Kubota and hydrostatic tranny. You will be able to mow faster and dial your speed better when using the tiller. Also, it doesn't sound like you would need or want the extra weight of the Deere. If you really want green, look at the 4 series too.

The skid steer quick connect uses two handles to lock the implement in place on th loader. It is very common as its on practically all skid steers and most compact tractors. THe global system is a heavier rated one I believe and has two hooks and two pins. It will far exceed anything our loaders can ever imagine picking up. Implements for this system are not very common on the used market. Only a few aftermarket companies will build something with it also

Is that the model that is made in India?

I don't know why the resale would be any better than the Kubota??

Sorry to say, but the JD having better resale just because they are green days are about over.

I have had the MX5100 for several years and it has been an excellent tractor. The HST and the tractor have been flawless for me for over 400 hours now. Be sure to have the tires loaded. I went with the R4's for my use and they have been great as well. They don't have the traction of the AG's but it is adequate for most chores. I would buy it again, it is my second Kubota. The MX is a CUT, but it performs better than my old Ford 4000 with 2WD. Be aware that the power band for the Kubota is over 5,000 RPMs and it is necessary to run some attachments ie. hydraulic auger. Fuel consumption is fairly high above 3000 RPMs, but not terrible.

Think you meant power band is above 2000 rpm for the MX5100? I agree with above, whatever you decide, make sure you get the SSQA loader option. Pallet forks, hyd auger, snow plow, etc. all use them.

Yes, the power band extends beyond 5,000 RPM's and is necessary to use that for some attachments with significantly increased fuel consumption. For most purposes the practical power required is 2000 and above RPMs unlike older non turbocharged diesel engines. I just realized my error with this post! Attribute it to OGBF! The power band extends beyond 2500 RPMs, not 5000!

I have the MX 5100, and I can't say enough good things about it. They are very powerful for that size of tractor, and get around well in tight spots. Do your self a favor and get the quick attach FEL and a heavy duty bucket. I don't know anything about the Deere, so I can't help you out there. Don't worry about the resale value, you will never want to get rid of this tractor.

Yes. Made is India. I Looked for months before buy at the used market and deere showed the highest resale with Kubota second. The green paint still commands more green. Salesman told me (I know...take with as grain of salt) but in 3-4 years there's a good chance I can sell my tractor for what I paid for it. Mainly due to the annual price increases and tier 2 emmissions I think.
