Hi all. I'm looking at the 3130 vs the NH TC33DA, for use in landscaping a rocky site for an apple orchard in the Hudson Valley, New York (7 acres now, maybe another 3 could be cleared). The FEL on the 3130 appears heavier(?). The backhoes appear identical. The NH is priced to me about $1,500 more, though neither machine is much discounted (about 10%) from list. Both the dealers are nearby, the NH dealer is particularly good, seems to me, but I am sure both would service the machine fine.

Any thoughts? I was looking at the Kubota 7800 but decided to add a little weight; fear I'm losing a little manueverability around trees down the road.

Thanks in advance for any comments, Ed

i went kubota, i think the rear ends are a lot beefer on the kubota. and their has been much chat on the tc's with loaders braking in half.i was pricd 12,900 for dt and 13,600 for hst with r4's. went with 3830hst r4's for 16250

Orchards are one place that I lean NH over Kubota. Especialy with super steer. You will appriciate being to get around better with such a setup. $1500 is a small differencial, here its about $2500.

I have a question. How will the extra weight help? I have read several comments on the need for weight when you are pulling plows and implements like that, and I guess the same is true for heavy FEL work too. Does extra weight help in other types of work? I went with a B7800 over the 3130 to reduce weight to make transporting easier. Also the 3130 was about $3000 more. I figured that the B7800 had about 75 to 80% of the capacity of the 3130, so I would work about 20% longer.
