What are your opinions on the Kubota 30/30? They seem to be at a good price right now.

I have a B3030HSDC and I'm 110% happy with it. No issues , dead reliable ...... plenty of power for my chores.

I totally agree with Ductape and then some. Depending on your needs, I don't think you could go wrong.

I'm sure you'll appreciate the machine equally or even more. In my case, I'd say 115% happy, and that's when I'm in the shop just looking at it. :D

I've had mine about 4 years & wouldn't trade it for anything. A/C for in the summer when it's hot & heat in the winter when it's cold & snow needs to be plowed.

B3030 was a grand slam model for kubota, i ran one myself for several years!

No current Kubota model has both position control and a free floating MMM. You can get one or the other, but not both. The B3030 has position control, which is much better than quarter inching valve, but not as good as draft control. The MMM for the B3030 cannot be run while partially suspended. It must be lowered with the full weight on the anti-scalp rollers in order to engage the deck. Depending on one's needs, these capabilities matter to some operators and not at all to others. There are numerous lengthy threads in the archives full of valuable information. The search tool will help you find them. Good luck with your investigation!

Could you elaborate on why you can't run the mower deck in the fully raised position? I've used a B7610 quite a bit and the mower deck functions perfectly fine lowered or raised, and it is a full floating type as well.

That is a good question. I don't know why Kubota builds them this way, but the current B series models that are numbered XX00 have floating decks, but no position control. Current B series models that are numbered XX30 have position control, but do not offer floating decks. Your B7610 is out of production and I don't know which other older models have either of these capabilities. There has been a lot of speculation in the archives about why Kubota doesn't offer both on one tractor. If I understand correctly, JD has a tractor in this class with both capabilities. I'm not pushing green, but this was a big reason I did not trade up to a B3030 back when I had more $ than I do now. Perhaps others with more info than I can pitch in.

Afterthought: the OP said the B3030 is at a good price right now. I wonder if that's his local dealer or everywhere. Someone else said prices were about to go up. I wonder if a price drop on the B3030 could indicate that it's going to be phased out and replaced with something that has both of these features? Just wild speculation on my part. Maybe any dealers on TBN could offer insight.

The B3030 is being replaced by a B3000, which is the same exact tractor except it will have the quarter inching valve (:confused::confused: ) instead of the current position control ......and supposedly has a little new sound insulation in the cab. Nothing in the new B3000 that I can see that would make me want one over a B3030.

NOT TRUE!! You can run that mid-mounted mower raised up all the way, lowered all the way or any position in between. I own a B3030 for almost 4 years.

It seems I need to restate my point. The MMMs for the B2630 and B3030 are not "suspended" decks. They are "floating" decks, which is the same thing as "ground contact" decks. This is just like the FEL bucket having its full weight (but no hydraulic downpressure) on the ground when in the "float" position. The full weight of the deck is designed to sit on the deck wheels. Adjustments for height are done to the deck wheels and the full weight is supposed to sit on the deck wheels. MMMs with suspended decks allow for height adjustment to be made by running the MMM while part to all of the weight is suspended from the lift linkage. The tractor has a MMM position control knob just below the operator's seat. (This is totally different than the 3ph position control being referred to otherwise). This knob allows the MMM to be lowered to a preset yet partially elevated position. The deck will go no lower than the dial setting. I am under the impression that tractors with the floating/ground contact MMMs do not have this position control knob. Some TBN members have mentioned that they drilled holes in the deck and used chain to suspend the deck at a desired height to overcome this. Some owners prefer the floating deck, stating that it follows ground contour better. Others have stated that in soft sod the deck wheels make ruts due to the high pounds per square inch on the small wheels.

In light of your observation, let me rephrase what I said earlier: While it is possible to run the MMM on a B3030 with the deck weight off the wheels, the deck is designed to be a ground contact implement. All of the weight is intended to be placed on the deck rollers.

Here are other posts that make the same observations:

I accept your point that you can engage the deck in a raised position, you are correct. It seems Kubota intends for it to run while on the ground. I hope this extra information clarifies the point I was making. I would be very interested in knowing-did you use yours regularly in a lifted position? What were the results?

Not sure if the new B3000 open station went to the quarter inching valve. The cold weather package cab model has the position control, whereas the basic cab model has the quarter inching.

I have been very happy with my B3030, but was considering moving to a cab version. However, the B3000 cab version is $10k more than I paid for my open station B3030 just 3 years ago, so I'm sticking with the B3030 for a while longer.

Yes, it is a ground contact deck & is intended to run while on the ground. I did mow with mine all the way raised a few times. I sold some property about 4 or 5 years ago & built a new house across the street. The new owners didn't keep up with the mowing too well the first year or so & the grass was taller than the hood on the B3030. The first time I went through I had the 72 inch mower raised all the way & then about half way on the second pass. I mowed a couple times for them like this until they contracted someone to mow for them. No harm was done to tractor or mower. I wouldn't recommend making this a habbit, though.

In NB Canada, It's $23000 with factory cab.

I take it that is Canadian dollars, no loader or other accessories/attachments?

I have no idea what the exchange rate is right now.

As of today it is slightly higher than US dollar: $1 Canadian = $1.028 US
