How high off the ground should the arms be on a Kubota L245 three point hitch? I bought a potato plow and cannot get it to dig into the ground, no matter how I angle it or adjust it.
I want to dig a 12 inch deep trench in Tennessee dirt (rocky and compacted soil) to run some PVC to the barn, about 250 feet from the water source.
The potato plow just rides on top of the ground, without digging in. I tried taking off the plow blade and just using the pointy frame as a subsoil pick, but no luck. I also tried loading it with 4 cement blocks, and that helped only a little. I am wondering if the arms of the 3 pt hitch are not dropping low enough to be effective. When at rest, they are about a foot up from the ground. Is that low enough?
I'm thinking maybe I should use my box blade with only one pick attached to start the trench, then follow up with the 'tater plow.
