B2710
HELP I can trade a year old B7500 for a Kubota 2410 for $2940 or a Kubota 2710 for $3825 this is tractor and loader verses tractor and loader. I am leaning toward the 2410 because of money.
Would the 2410 handle a 5 foot bush hog okay?
Thank you all for any input.

Don, I believe the 2410 is rated for a 4' cutter. Not to say you couldnt successfully use a light duty 5' cutter on grass or light brush. The 2710 is also technically rated for a 4' cutter, but lot's of people here use 5' cutters on them. So, a 2710 would be better suited for a 5' cutter, and you could probably even handle a medium duty cutter for heavy brush.

Pardon me if I look at your situation from another angle. Why are you trading the 7500? If its because you think you need a larger tractor, you're not adding very much with a 2410--a little more power and position control. I would suggest that if you are going to work any significant portion of your 40 acres, and if you have heavy brush, you maybe should be thinking at least a 3010.

Don,

I agree with what Glenn had to say. What is motivating you to consider trading up (what doesn't the B7500 do?)

I agree with the others. $3k is alot of money for position control. Really need to understand why you need a bigger tractor. When I was looking, the 2410 seemed like a nice tractor but for the extra 800 or so it seemed like if I had wanted something that size that the 2710 was the better value. I ended up with the B7500.

i have a b2400, fine machine. but don't think spending 3k to move up from 1yr.old 7500 to 2410 would be a wise move. u are not gaining that much in power or size.if u really think u need to move up, then u might want to consider going to the L series.

I made a similar trade. I started with a B2100DT (gear shift), it's basically a B7500 with position control, and I ended with a B2410 with HST transmission. The difference in price was about what you are paying, the B2100 was 2 years old, but the main difference was the new transmission. You take a beating on price, but the improved transmission is really nice. The extra power of the B2410 isn't very noticeable, so I wouldn't make the trade if you already have HST.

4' ok.....
5' ... you'll be disappointed and have a very light front end.

Obviously Steve has much more experience than I do, but I will comment on my experience. I have a B2410 and a 5' King Kutter rotary cutter. The tractor does an excellent job with it. The cut is good and it has always cut everything I have asked it too (including a few rock /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif). I have the LA352 loader on it and I have never had any problems at all with a light front end. This is true with all of the implements I have (rototiller etc). If you bought a very heavy rotory cutter, then it could become an issue, but even then a couple of good sized rocks in the bucket ought to counter that.

good info... and thanks
The keys are cutter weight and the terrain where you are mowing.

At times, a five foot cutter will make even an L 3010 very light on the front end if it doesn't have weights or ballast.

I'd advise DONH to try/demo the combination himself on a slope or hill before making the final purchase selection.

good luck

The 2410 will run a 5 ft cutter in flat ground grass conditions . The problem arises when the tail starts wagging the dog, a 5ft unit is to much wght for the size of the 2410, unsafe! As to the 2710, why not go to the 2910? Same chassis but oh so much more convience equipment for very little cost. The full suspension seat and telescoping lower links
alone tripped my trigger. Fan of Kubota
