Korean made Deere

For all of you who bleed green...

I found an interesting post on the Kioti forum. Kioti tractors are made by Daedong, a Korean tractor manufacturer who also produces (or produced) complete tractors for McCormick, Cub and Bobcat that they rebadge as their own.

Apparently, in Korea, Daedong makes tractors rebadged as John Deere.

I realize that Deere's marketing rules in Korea do not necessarily translate into future ideas for the U.S. and I also realize that Yanmar (a foreign company) makes excellent engines for many Deere CUT's (including my beloved JD3320). Plus there are many other foreign made parts found on many pieces of JD equipment.

Seeing a Deere on the Daedong site just got me thinking: will we ever see an entirely foreign made tractor being rebadged as a John Deere like so many other U.S. tractor companies have done?

Doesn't seem like too far of a stretch anymore...

hmm, well i just bought me a nice korean made tractor, and was out in -4F weather today moving snow in a nice warm cab. i have no problem with them.

I would buy Korean long before I would Chinese. Hope you don't own a BobCat since they are now Korean owned.

Already been done, beginning with Deere's first foray into the CUT market 30+ years ago. The JD 650-1650 and 670-1070 series were JD green Yanmars (not just powered by Yanmar). The 790 & 990 (currently 3005 & 4005) are also built by Yanmar. If I'm not mistaken, the recently discontinued 2305 was also built entirely by Yanmar. Currently, Deere also imports some tractors from India, but they're built in JD factories over there.

I would buy Korean long before Chinese too but I'm not planning on buying either one anytime soon. Only have 160 hrs on my 3320.

...and I think that the link is harmless, even if it does minimize the screen and take a little time to load. Didn't cause any problems with either of the antivirus programs (Norton & McAfee) that are on my 2 computers, and I've looked at it several times today.

Amazing how sucking that green Kool-Aid down makes folks think everything Deere is made right in the USA along the banks of the Mississippi.

I managed to back out of it before getting the malware type virus. But it was happening.
