I'm in the market for a Boxblade. I have Kubota L3130 (30 hp) tractor and a short hard pan dirt driveway that is very hard with embedded rocks. It has developed ruts from normal tire wear and I'd like to level it out so low clearance vehicles don't get high centered. I was looking at Midwest boxblades which seem to be a good deal but when I contacted Tarheel tractor they said that Midwest now has a deal with John Deer, they can't get them anymore. My local Kioti dealer (who can't get Kioti attachments since they were made by Midwest also) has a Kodiak model. They offer a regular duty and heavy duty. The heavy duty 60" has 3/8" sides and weighs 530 lbs and it runs $679. Anyone heard of them?

Well, I got the Kodiak HD Box blade and it's plenty beefy. I think the side panels are actually 1/2" !! For the price it would be hard to beat. I had looked at the specs for the King Kutters and the Kodiak was much heavier duty and not much more money.

Fit and finish are second rate but those are not that important for a piece like this, I just want something that will last.

On a side note, I am a tractor newbie, the box blade came with the two lower hitch pin but not the top one? Doesn't all 3 pt equipment come with all three? Does everyone use a bolt for the top link instead of a pin?

The toplink pin is with your tractor toplink and is universal to the implements. Therefore implements dont usually come with toplink pins. There are a few exceptions as our First Choice roto tillers and Grooming Mowers come with a toplink pin.--Ken Sweet

Are you saying my tractor should have come with the top link pin? I have a Kubota L3130 and I don't think it came with one as far as I know.

Correct, Anyways, Every new tractor that I have ever sold went out with a new factory toplink pin for the toplink. Sometimes they are in the toolbox or the dealer forgets to put them on--Ken Sweet

Berak, All of the implements I've ever bought had a top link pin in them.

Well, it looks like we don't have agreement on this then. :) Some come with it some don't. In any event, my tractor did come with a top link pin in the toolbox where I forgot to look, Doh.
