Kobalt or Craftsman

Years past dad was a heavy industry mechanic, i was a heavy machine mechanic. We both had craftsman sockets and wrenches, he liked his, mine would break one right after the other. I loaded all my craftsman wrenches one day and took them back. It was a terrible hassle but they finally refunded my money on all wrenches and sockets just to get me out of the store, and asked me never to return again. I bought S & k and some Mac and have been happy ever since. Yea i've broke a couple but they were cheerfully replaced. I now buy a lot of off brand wrenches and for the most part have good luck with them, but my tool box has no room for Craftsman. As i think about it, i guess its not really the tools i dislike as much as the store and the people in it which i have to deal with. Remember now this is just my opinion now and i don't want to start a war here. . .John

I learned, later in life, that stuff you buy just because you need it may well still be what you are using 20,30,40 or more years later. I have a mix of Craftsman tools (my dad was an aircraft mechanic in the 50-70's) Snap-on and even some Montgomery Wards tools (once the equivalent of Craftsman, but no longer any guarantee) and even some HF stuff, and if it works, I still have it. H F is good for occasional use big socket and wrench stuff- it is affordable when on sale, and nothing beats a 3/4" drive 2" socket for that big nut.
