Knoxville, Tennessee

My wife and I are planning on retiring in the next year, and Knoxville, Tennessee is one of the places that we're considering. Is anyone from that area? We're looking for something for about $150,000, the amount of property doesn't matter, I know we won't be having a farm anymore. We're looking for an area that is safe, has parks in the area and close to shopping. We have no kids. How is the winter weather there? How is health care? Are there areas that have high crime to be avoided? Any info good or bad would be appreciated.

I would love the Maryville Tn area. Thinking about finding a lot up there in the future.

Every time we stopped for fuel or anything or just experiencing the traffic around Knoxville, everyone just seemed unfriendly. For that reason, we never considered that area.

We ended up near Charlottesville, Va. $150k won't get much here.

The weather is pretty nice. It has been warmer than average this year, but there has only been a few days where I had to wear a jacket this year.
