We had the same problem. I cut an arch in the lower trim of the cabinaet and that worked just fine. Then, we had a water pipe bust and flood the kitchen. We added granite tile countertops during th repair and now the mixer won't fit under the counters at all. That's a pain but its a great machine so we still use it a lot.

I guess I was just lucky, because I'd have never thought to check that, but we have about a 2" clearance with ours.

just checked ebay: looks like santa should have done some shopping there, especially if
you don't mind a used mixer..am considering bidding on a tilt head model: i didn't think about cuttin a arch in the bottom of the cabinet, i may have to look at that??

I guess I was just lucky, because I'd have never thought to check that, but we have about a 2" clearance with ours.

Our cabinets are too low. Design flaw. (The house was built by a contractor 30 years and the kitchen re-done about15 years ago (before we bought it) by a high end renovator....you'd think that they would have paid attention to that sort of detail. ). It is not a fancy kitchen like folks install these days but its nice. I never really noticed the low cabinets until I started getting into cooking. We have lots of counter space but it is almost unusable for food prep because the cabinets come down too low. Very frustratiing.

The mixer we have is not the tilt top. It is the larger model that raises the mixing bowl with a crank. A tilt top would fit under our cabinet....but then you couldn't tilt it up!

I've been wanting one of these for a long time, was shopping with the wife at her favorite store, Belks, and spotted the mixer for $299 with 10% off with $30 rebate, and another 15% off if I opened an account. This one was the tilt head with one plastic gear. Our next stop was Sam's and I spotted the KG model that lifts the bowl and has all metal gear drive, I think it was $272, so I bought it and returned the Belks the next time we were there. I think this is going to be like buying a tractor, the mixer is just the down payment, I'm already looking at the food processor attachment that requires the meat grinder also and then there is the vegetable slicer, but it gets not so good reviews. Wish they had a wood splitter attachment:D.I've used the mixer a few times and wish I'd got it a lot sooner.

Here is something to use it for.mmm GOOD
WOOPIE PIES a.k.a. Twinkie Kinky Pie (Ausi name)

NEED;

1 CUP OF SHORTENING
2 CUPS SUGAR
4 EGG YOLKS
2 CUPS OF MILK
4 CUPS OF FLOUR
2/3 CUP OF COCOA
2 TEASPOONS OF BAKING SODA
2 TEASPOONS BAKING POWDER
1 TEASPOON VANILLA

FILLING:

4 EGG WHITES
1 CUP SHORTNING
4 CUPS OR SO OF CONFECTIONARY SUGAR

Directions

Mix the entire first list above ingredients together into a cake batter.(EGG YOLKS ONLY)

Then bake at 375 for 11 minutes placing small “drops” onto a cookie sheet. Size to your liking.

Let cool.
The filling is shortening and the confectionary sugar
First whip to a fluff the egg whites saved from the four eggs for the cakes
Then add the sugar and shortening. Whip to a solid frosting. Maybe adding more sugar to get the right consistency. (Cooling the mixture in the frig will stiffen it also)

When the cakes are cool you frost one and put another on top to make the pie.

With our KitchenAid stand mixer, I tried several different recipes for chocolate chip cookies, did a little minor adjustments, and was making some fine cookies. But then I quit because I'm gaining so much weight.
