I have been trying to figure out what it means when it says 1st - 540 RPM in the specs for the rear PTO speed. The front PTO listed as engine rpm. OK, It must not mean 1st gear because the PTO spins without it being in any gear at all. ??? What does it mean then? The other thing is Where is the front PTO hidden? I can't seem to locate it. Maybe because I don't know what I'm looking for. I expected to see something like the rear, a splined shaft sticking out in front somewere underneath the machine??? Any answers for these dumb questions?

I have a Kioti 3054 that I bought in April and it does not have the front PTO. The specs say that it does, but trust me, it did not come with one. As far as the 1st pto speed of 540rpm, this is refering to 1st gear on the pto. Kioti has 2 speed pto's on them, 1st 540 and 2nd 1000 rpm's. Yes, the pto will spin when the tractor is in nuetral and not moving. Also if you have a dual stage clutch you can release the clutch 1/3 of the way and this will angage the PTO with the tractor not yet moving because the transmition has not yet been engaged.

Hope this helps.

The front PTO is refering to the splines on the engine crankshaft, this is why it is listed as "Engine RPM" being the speed. If you look at the crankshaft on the tractor there will be a stub sticking out past the belt pulley. This is the front pto shaft. It is normally used to run a hydro pump for front mounted attachments. As far as I know all Kioti's have this feature. There is also a half moon cut-out on the front bumper for clearance.

Thanks, I'll have to look a little closer for it. That makes a lot of sense. It would be difficult to manage the power output without going through a hydro pump with reliefs, etc. Sounds good.

That's good to know. Could you tell me where the shift lever is for the PTO speed? Better yet, if you attach a picture, it would be worth a thousand words. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif </font>

Oh ChrisW,

I forgot to ask about the 2 stage clutch. I don't remember seeing anything about it in the spec's. How do I know if I have one, other than trying to see if the PTO is moving first from the seat?

Nelson,
ChrisW has a LK3054 with dual stage clutch and 2 speed PTO.
Your DK only has 1 speed PTO (540RPM) and no 2 stage clutch. DK models have Independant PTO (turns on and off by a switch on the dash panel).

Thanks for the info. It is kind of strange that they would list it as 1st 540 as if there were a 2nd. Oh, well, must have lost something in the translation.

In the owners and service manuals I think there was quite a lot lost in the translation ! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
I see you have a backhoe.Just curious which make and model you went with and how you like it.

I have the Kioti 2385. I got the 24" bucket on it which I had second thoughts about until I started using it. I dig a lot of stumps and thought it might be too wide. It prooved not to be so and the extra capacity sure can move dirt quickly. I think I will get a narrower bucket sometime though just to cut down on the wear and tear on the big one.

A couple of things to look out for. The hydraulic line rubs (as noted in previous posts) and swing cylinder o-rings. The 0-rings seem to have been pinched when installed on the 4 adaptors (retract end of each cylinder). A couple of leaks sprung up when the adaptors got slightly loose. I was able to re-seat the damaged o-rings well enough to finish the work at the time. New ones are on the way from the dealer.

All things considered, the problems are minor and the hoe has been meeting or exceeding my expectations.

Nelson,

Interesting that your having problems with the O rings on your 2385 hoe. I've had my DK45 for just over a month and have had to replace a lift cylinder (at four hours) on the 1590 loader (looks like the set screw was not tight and it imploded). I've also just lost control (no movement) of the dipperstick on the 2385 and have two leaks on the hoses for the stablizers. I've got just over 15 hours on the machine now. Dealer says about a week to get everything fixed. I also have the problem of the hoe hoses hanging down which is a real problem when going up slopes because the hoe hangs out so far.
