Kioti NX4510 hst
I bought a new Kioti NX4510 hst last fall. I now have 67 hours on it and experiencing a re-occurring problem with the calibration light coming on and the tractor won't move at all until the light goes out. This has been occurring since since I bought it and the dealer said it was a loose connection at the calibration button. I've checked the connection, cleaned it and still no help. I've changed the transmission oil, hst filter and transmission filter at the 50 hr service as per the manual, and I believe it's getting worse. Anyone had any issues like this? Dealer has not been much help.

I have seen this problem before do you have large feet

Let me se if I can explain what is happening is a safety feature built-in you are changing direction before your foot is completely off the other pedal step on both pedals at the same time see what happens this is designed to keep us from doing damage to the transmission we have to retrain our feet

Average size. But how long does it take to clear itself? I have to let it set there for 5 to 10 minutes idling before it will clear itself and start working again. I've even got so frustrated after waiting 30 minutes to clear itself that I shut it down, walked home, ate lunch and came back. It worked fine for the next 2 or 3 hours.

Make sure that the calibration switch is turned off sounds like you may have to have that recalibrated

That's what the dealership thought. They picked it up today. Will post back when I find out what the fix was. Thanks

I have a full thread on this same issue. There were 2 things my dealer has done so far, and they are doing some more tests soon when I get my 50 hr service.

First, do you have any additional hydraulics? I have a 3rd function, and they put in a larger valve body for that. They also changed the hst screen filters to 70 microns. Evidently some of the hydraulic filters are too restrictive and the fluid was heating up. With that problem I was also experiencing a serious 'lag' time on the pedals and kind of a slipping.

I have to ask also how you are operating it? Do you do quick work and get on the pedals very fast from forward and reverse? I was doing that and had a lot of problems when I was doing that. Once I retrained myself to wait a second or two and then hit the pedals, this problem seemed to have been cured.

Oh, and I've also learned to do the recalibration sequence. It is very simple once you know how to do it. My dealer gave me a copy of their recal manual pages which is easier to understand than the basic manual we get. I can try to scan and copy it for you guys if you'd like, although last time I tried to post pics it wouldn't work, but I'd be happy to email it out.

Joe, after you raised the issue of lag time switching between forward and reverse in your other thread, I spent a little time last week trying to replicate the problem on my NX4510HST. Apologies for not posting my results earlier, but I've been slammed.

Tried hard to replicate the delay, in all three ranges, and in different modes (including Linked Pedal and Anti-Stall), and just couldn't do it. The lag for me is literally no more than 1/2 second. :scratchchin: I know there are some other NX owners on TBN that we haven't heard from yet on this. Maybe they'll see one of the threads and jump in with their experience.

Yeah hearing this type of feedback makes it more frustrating.. If I were to switch from reverse to forward and mash the pedal I could literally count one-one thousand, two-one thousand before it would even engage forward. Even then it would engage slowly. ...

I was there in the "Lag" this weekend it is a scary feeling when you push into a burning brush pile and try to back up and the tractor just sets there. Maybe there are times to not have a HST tractor?? Hoping when I get fully acclimated to it the limitations will be clearer. But for now it is taking some getting used to.

I have the same issue with my DK40, dealer changed out the entire HST unit... tractor still does the same thing. My old CK30, when you moved the pedal... the tractor moved.. immediately, no delay. I understand that with the CK, the pedal was connected directly to the direction control valve, but with the DK, the pedal is connected to a valve that then controls the direction control valve.

   / Kioti NX4510 hst problem #13
Sounds like they need to re-engineer something. All the HSTs I have driven have had near-instantaneous response when changing directions. I take that for granted. I would not tolerate a delay in there -- that's just not acceptable.

...with the DK, the pedal is connected to a valve that then controls the direction control valve.

Do you know if that first valve is hydraulically actuated, or is it a closed/sealed damper valve? Almost sounds like a clutch delay valve (CDV) installed on some AWD sports cars, to prevent transmission damage in the event someone tries to dump the clutch. What it does is limit the rate of clutch engagement by damping the motion of the linkage, regardless of how fast the pedal is released. I wonder if Kioti is doing the same thing to control the rate of direction changes with the HST?

Thing is, in normal driving, a CDV isn't really detectable by a good driver. If done right, Kioti's solution shouldn't be either. There really shouldn't be a delay in direction changes on a tractor, both for safety reasons and productivity reasons. I would not be able to tolerate that very long.

Man, how frustrating... My dealer told me that he has some tests to run on it, but I don't think anything is going to come of it to be honest... I have had to 'adjust' the way I operate the machine. s219 said what I've been trying to say as well, that this sure could be a safety concern. I work on hills a lot and this lag does not bode well for hilly terrain...

I have two remote valves, installed by the dealer. Also, a front end loader. Seems like the problem more prevalent when using the front end loader more. I usually don't work it too quick, but You and Bobfarm41 have me rethinking on this one. When disking, tilling, or bush hogging, I don't seem to have that problem. It seems like it may be related to front end loader work and maybe I am not allowing enough lag time between forward and reverse. Dealer has had it for a week now, and cannot re-create the problem. I'll contact them and let them know to use the front loader. Thanks to you and Bobfarm41 for your help on this.

I'd love to have a copy of the recal manual pages. Can you post them? If not I can send you my email address. Does every agree the owner's manual is not very helpful, or is it just me. Thanks again.

I'll try to remember later today to grab it out of my tractor and scan it. I might also make a video of how to do it as well, since I've had a couple guys ask that already. I'm curious what the dealer is going to say.

Got my NX 4510 hst back from the dealer this past Thursday. I worked it very hard this weekend and never had the problem problem as mentioned at the start of this thread again. If any one experiences this same issue, have them check the forward and reverse pedals for proper adjustment. My tractor came from the factory way out of adjustment. They also changed out the controller, but they doubted this was the cause of the problem. Not only does the linked pedal work in conjunction with forward/reverse pedal much better, I never had the recalibrate light come on, or had issues with the tractor not engaging with the transmission.

Man, I am happy for you.... I am not so hopeful though that mine will ever be resolved... It is in the shop right now. I've even forwarded your post to them to relay to the service dept... I just feel like this is going to be a ghost issue and that it is the way the thing was designed.... I sincerely hope that I am wrong!!! Enjoy using it now that it works right!!!!

I have the same problem with my 2023 NX610. The CAL light comes on, and the tractor will not move. Sometimes, flipping the call button fixes it. The last time I was at the edge of my lake, the engine stopped. After trying to start and flipping the CAL button, it finally started. I have been to two dealers and still have the problem. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix it?
