Kioti NX Backhoe/ HST Question

   / Kioti NX Backhoe/ HST Question #11
If it goes the way its been described, slow and easy on the HST to build up momentum, without the hoe, you should be good to go. Note however that the hoe hydraulics should be OFF for best output of any gear range. If the hydraulics are still flowing to the hoe it could substantially effect the H range gear, adversely. Most users hardly ever use the H range, except for road travel; dirt or otherwise. Think of it as high, NOT fast.

Have you verified the HST fluid level? What's the color of the HST fluid? How many hours on the machine? It could need a fluid change if its got high hours, or at least both HST and other hydraulic filter change(s), and fluid top off.
Is the power to the backhoe hoses shut off at the lever for A and B hydraulics when the hoe is disconnected? If the HST fluid to the hoe connections is active this will deadhead the hydraulics, and make more noise than if they are shut off. This could easily affect the HST power to H range, especially. (The last sentence is based on the NX using the same lever setup as the DK series)- I'm not certain it does...
Report back answers to above questions.

Tractor has 200 Hrs and just had the 200hrs service 10 hours ago, I had the hydraulics shut off (pretty sure) but the hoses were still connected so I'm hoping that it was just the pump working overtime that caused the loss of power I think that would prob explain it. I have it off, will test it tonight then if all goes well will remount and leave hydraulics disconnected. Hoping for the best. I have driven another NX and know it has a ton of power. Was hoping to be able to drive it 9 miles on the road to a project at my house since trailering an 81 inch wide tractor with loaded Ag tires is so much fun. Spent 15 hrs Saturday making the trip to pick it up. Got to say so far it is Awesome and glad I got it. I was thinking of getting the new DKSE but my wife didn't like the cab so found a great deal on a 2017 NX will hopefully report back tonight

So I decided to check the hydraulics even though it just had its service and they were pretty low, don't know how low but the backhoe and grapple work fine so maybe low enough that it affects high gear, won't test again before adding any. I'll call the dealer and see if they remember checking, they were supposed to replace per the receipt. Hopefully that is what is causing the low power, I have driven maybe 2-3 minutes in High during my testing.

I suggest getting a short hydraulic hose made up, possibly by your dealer, to couple the two fittings that go to the hoe's hookup. This way when you disconnect the hoe you put the 'loop' section between the female connectors on the tractor and deadheading is no longer an issue.

And if you have a lever like the DK's have, you can hear the sound deadheading makes if you haven't put the lever to neutral, (so it is not allowing fluid to flow to either A or B rear valve(s)). You do NOT want deadheading - it WILL burn out your pump!! :irked:

The short hose is to prevent accidentally deadheading the pump when doing something with the hoe off the tractor. Maybe your dealer will make one up for you since they missed topping up the hydraulic fluid.

One way or another get it topped off with the proper fluid with wet brake capability included. Check it and oil everyday until both are full consistently.

I's fine, they all work that way. I have a new DK4210SE Cab and it will barely move at first in high gear but low and Med are fine, to use high gear you need to be on a perfectly flat place, mine will not go up any incline at all in high. HST's are not like a car where in a car you push the "gas" to go faster a hydrostatic works differently the less you push the "gas" the more power you have. So when your in low gear and the peddle is just lightly pushed that's max power (max work) when you floor it - you stall it or it bogs down. Same as traveling in hight gear, you need to start out easy on the peddle to coax it along gradually pressing harder as it allows you to. More peddle means more bogging down, took me 4 years to find this out - and I learned it here and it is true - I had a Kubota B2610 and I could drive it a bit in hight but it was much easier to use medium and not worry about babying the peddle, I was real worried when I bought my new Kioti but I learned to get around it - hope this helps.
